If the Chockie Munster is going to add to his massive portfolio of cuts he controls. Image

I pass the Wyrley Essington Canal almost twice daily at Green Lane/Stephenson Ave. Image

And it’s looking good. Image Image Image

Plenty of fish holding features – reed beds, lily pads on some pegs, and non of that manky floating weed about that chocked the cut in places a year or two ago

Used to be the Beechdale waters that hosted many a hundred pegger w&j matches a decade or so ago. Perhaps some of you ‘northern’ guys – Dodge, Ropa etc used to pay it a visit?

There again thinking again, might have to beat the Chockie Munster too it and take it on myself………….now where did I put Leggo’s tel no Image

tk the green weed a been on that stretch this year when its been hot and dry for a few days, but it soon breaks up when it rains so thats prob why you aint seen much of it with all the rain weve had Image Image. I walk my dog along that stretch a few times awekk from baileys down to the old power station bridge then back. Theres been loads big shoals of small rudd swimming about on the top. Down the power staion arm some big tench have been coming out alot and its used to be a good bit for roach with the warm water going in but im not sure if the roach are still there with the power station gone.

If you have a match on there you are garnteed to have some lively fun with the chav's and bikes/ motor bikes. That is part of the reason beechdale gave it up. ! reason was the weed problem but the other was the hassle anglers got of the kids and yobs during a match >:( >:( >:(.

Its about 3 mile away Dodge, in a bit more of an urban setting. But having said that I've fished it and never had any probs with chavs or scroats in the past

Used to host 100 peggers with lots of guys from Lancs etc coming down

Shame you didnt see the best of our cut at Pelsall - the boats daint come through :-[ :'(

Its a nice canal TK with something for everyone , plenty of roach & perch and lots of big fish ie tench & bream. I think it would make a great venue for a "Big" match with the variety of fish in there. Certainly plenty to think about for any match angler from any peg and it could be one of those venues where you are never out of it so to speak ;) Image

tk as a kid i used to fish spats bridge, the junction, and the arm and now i fish the bt depot to busil jones school with my 6 yr old daughter. We fish the opp side to the tow path because of all the twats that go past, and the bikes. Theres been loads of home made pegs around that area now in the reeds as loads of people are fishing the opp side to the tow path. You still get a fair few fishing the junc and arm. Not many fish the 4 crosses bit since the building work started on the new flats as a lot of work was done in the water to build new supporrts to secure the bank for the flats to be built.
