Date for your Diaries - Alders Farm (Pairs Tournament, Fish-in, get together)
Posted: December 3rd, 2018, 11:10 am
26th, 27th and 28th July 2019
The last weekend in July has traditionally been the weekend of theMaggotdrowning Pairs Tournament, and this year (2018) we added to it with a bit of a fish-in for those that wanted to attend and fish the specimen lake.
Having had a discussion with the owners of Alders Farm Fishery, we have been offered exclusive use of their fishery for that weekend in order to turn it into a massive Maggotdrowning meet.
This will mean that we will be able to run the 'Friday Match' as per usual on Pines (on the Friday), and the Pairs match over Saturday and Sunday on Ash. It also means that the rest of the fishery can be used by Maggotdrowners, including the Oaks (specimen lake). For those wishing to just pleasure fish and even hold smaller knock ups if required, it will be ours to do with what we wish for the three days
Apart from the 3 main lakes there is another smaller lake and a couple of ponds that offer decent fishing if a pleasure session is more your thing. Also an indoor and an outdoor air rifle range on site. Plus, Pines will be available Saturday and Sunday for pleasure fishing, along with Ash on the Friday.
The only requirement is that we have to have a minimum of 40 people, which in all fairness shouldn't be a problem, the biggest complaint people have is 'not enough notice'
So here you are, eight months notice to plan your diaries around the Maggotdrowning Alders Farm get together, camping, fishing to suit all, onsite cafe for breakfast, BBQ, and plenty of banter, chat and laughs.
If we get the required numbers to attend we'll also see if we can get some 'names' down for a bit of a teach-in or something, who knows what could happen?
We're not going to start taking definite bookings just yet (that's normally around the end of March), but if it is something you would be interested in, the Pairs, Speci, Pleasure or just a three day weekend with mates, please feel free to put your name down on This Thread so we can get an early idea of numbers and see if it's feasible.
