The practice match for the Oxford winter league was fished by 34 anglers on the Thames at Sandford and Abingdon. The match was fished in blustery conditions on a very low and clear Thames where although the top weights were good, a lot of the areas fished very hard.
1st Steve Townsend - Drennan Oxford - 23lb 1oz. Steve drew opposite Wilsham road at Abingdon and had skimmers and perch on 13m pole and caster over groundbat and loose feed caster.
2nd Carl Eland - Drennan Oxford - 21lb 7oz. Carl drew next to the winner and had a similar bag of fish on similar tactics.
3rd Mark Bowerman - Sensas A4 - 17lb 14oz. Mark drew top end peg at Sandford and had all roach on 11m pole and maggot
4th Steve Harwood - Drennan Oxford -17lb 13oz. Steve also drew at the top end of Sandford and also had mainly roach on the pole.
