The practice match for the next round of the Oxford winter league was fished by 40 anglers on the Kennnet and Avon canal at Upper Dunmill, Hungerford. With overnight frosts and a very cold northerly wind the match was hard but very even with 5lb required to win most sections and odd big perch deciding the overall results.
st Geoff Lewendon – Drennan Oxford – 8lb 14oz. Geoff drew on a big tree above the lock towards Hungerford and had 5 good perch, biggest 2 1/2lb on pole fished lobworm by the tree. He backed this up with small roach caught on squatt.
nd Martin Kirk – Sensas A4 – 8lb 5oz. Martin drew end peg, furthest away from Hungerford and had 2 big perch on lobworm and a lot of roach on squatt.
rd John Beesley – Drennan Oxford – 6lb 6oz. John drew 2 above the lock and had 2 decent perch on pole fished lobworm and small roach on pinkie over groundbait.
th Kevin Holmes – Sensas A4 – 6lb 3oz
