Hartleylands Farm - RES 15th Oct 2016

Ok Gents, Dave asked me to start a thread for our final match of the season as he is
still spending the club funds with Cunard having a much needed recouperation cruising round the Med. But he assures me he will be back for this one (in time to carefully design the sections no doubt
)
So will it still be warm, or time for your winter woolies by the 15th? And will the proper lumps from the Reservoir deeps be co-operating?
Only one way to find out - so who's up for it?

Unfortunately a lot of foliage on the first few pegs have been cut down so maybe not the flier any more.

Not intentionally Keith, a week or so ago fancied a day at Monks 2 but when I got there all 4 lakes were booked (on a Friday) so went to Hartleylands, nice warm day with a few people there most seemed to be using rods and surface baits 25/30 yds out. Fished one of the earlier pegs on the left hand bank (old No. 4 I think) but it was a struggle - only two fish after an hour or so, moved swims to what used to be Peg 8 (couldn't go much further along due to other people) and had two fish in about 10 minutes, after that it was very patchy as they didn't seem to want to feed on anything although I did manage one of 14lb from the margins - the anglers on the other bank seemed to do better off the top but further out. Given that there won't be many of us it might be worth only fishing the right hand bank and part way back up the other side as those old earlier pegs never seem to fish as well and could be left out.

A likely story young Tel!.....as a matter of rules, do we allow bread on the surface in our matches at the Res???

As far as I know surface fishing has always been allowed in our matches where the Fishery rules don't ban it, I think the only relevant thing banned in matches at Hartleylands is the bagging waggler and the floating feeder.
