The practice match for the 1st round of the Oxford winter league was fished by 41 anglers on a very patchy Thames at Abingdon and Culham. These stretches have been good all season but the fish are starting to shoal up and it is a sure sign of autumn. Catches today we affected by a very strong wind stopping good presentation.
st Carl Eland – Drennan Oxford – 15lb 11oz. Carl drew in the deep water 1st peg downstream from Swift ditch and had all roach and perch at 13m on caster over groundbait feed.
nd Mark Bowerman – Sensas A4 – 15lb 8oz. Mark drew opposite Wisham road in Abingdon and had roach and skimmers on 13m pole and maggot over caster feed.
rd Alan Brown – ISIS – 11lb 12oz. Aland drew in the rushes at the bottom end of Culham and had a near 7lb bream on the feeder and worm and had small skimmers and perch to back this up.
th Pete Bowles – Sensas A4 – 10lb. Pete drew end peg at Abingdon and had all roach on the pole and caster
