The 3rd round of the Oxford winter league was fished by 6 teams of 8 on the Thames at Sandford and Radley. The river was still very clear but after a mild week it was expected that the river would fish a lot better than the practice match. The bright sunlight all day made it a difficult start but as the light faded late in the match a lot of fish showed.
1st Geoff Lewenden - Dennan Oxford - 19;b 9oz. Geoff drew a noted chub peg 5 below the boathouse at Radley and had 4 big chub, to 6lb, all caught in the last hour. Geoff used a chop worm feeder with worm on the hook.
2nd Martin Kirk – Sensas A4 – 13lb 14oz. Martin drew at the top end of Sanford and had mostly roach on 13m pole and maggot over groundbait.
3rd Steve Pawson – Sensas A4 – 10lb 4oz. Steve drew 3 above the boathouse at Radley and had mainly perch on 12m pole on worm over chop worm feed.
