At the draw I drew peg 6 and my heart sank as I have seen more people drynet of this peg than any other.
Despite the strong wind the whole lake was like a mill pond except mine, Bob's and Tinks pegs
As shallow did not work for me yesterday and with the wind I ditched shallow today, been doing too much and neglecting deck and margin fishing
As there are plenty of big lumps in this pool I used my Rolfs rigs here too, which consisted of two 4x14 Malman thicko's (one for either side in the margin) I needed a heavier float to keep the float still and to support the big chunks of meat I was using
I also set up a 0.5g malman thicko for the deck rig at 7 meters which was a good 6 foot deep.
I was using 0.21 powerline and red hydro today
On the whistle I fed pellet only in my right hand margin and pellet and corn 7 meters to my left in my other margin swim where there was a nice little bay.
Cupped out pellet and corn on my 7 meter in front line.
Went out with a soft expander and hoped for the best as I was not hopeful of catching much. Waited about 5 mins and float goes under, first carp about 2lb. Avoided a drynet, I was happy
Had another carp 5 mins later and then nothing for over 30 mins During all this time I had continued to chuck pellets down the right hand margin swim and could see movement I put a 10mm chunk of meat on and dropped it in, the float sailed away instantly and out came the hydro. I held it on my topkit and 2 mins later a nice 7lb'er (about) in the net.
I had another fish straight after that and then decided to leave that side and try the other side again with meat. Same happened again but the fish were smaller from the left hand swim, about 3-4lb.
I had 4 from that side and fed it up again and went back down the right hand swim and continued to catch. Then I lost the fish for a good 2 hours
I carried on feeding regardless and they came back in the last hour so I tried to make up for lost time and ended up loosing more that I caught
Turned out to be a good day for me, I was not expecting that weight from that peg thats for sure.
Everyone weighed in which is always good and it was a close match between 1st and 2nd
Thanks
