27 anglers fished the 1st ODAA open match of the season on a low and clear Thames at Medley with 14 pegs at the top end and 14 pegs at the bottom end. Bream had been caught all through during the 1s week of the season so these were expected to provide the winning weights. With 4 end pegs in draw it was these that provided the top weights with pegs in between showing up just 3 or 4 bream or skimmers.
1st Mick Denton - Drennan Oxford - 67lb 3oz. Mick drew top end peg on the bottom 14 pegs which put him in the Perch bay below the Poplars. Mick had 19 bream and 5lb of perch on the open end feeder and groundbait with worm on the hook. Mick fished 3/4 across but also lost a number of fish in the weed.
2nd Colin Wainwright - Sensas A4 - 26lb 2oz Colin drew bottom end peg on the top 14 pegs and had 7 bream on the open end feeder and groundbait with worm on the hook.
3rd Phil Drew - Sensas A4 - 25lb 13oz. Phil was bottom end peg on the venue and also had bream on the feeder and worm.
