You're correct, it is Phil. He is 61 so not surprisingly looks a bit older than he did as a baby-faced 18 year old.

61. Blimey, how times fly. I'd have said 50 tops. Ivan thought highly of him. Do you know why he (Phil) packed in ??

I haven't entirely got to the bottom of why he packed it in. There are a number of factors including changes to the Fenland waters, the demise of the Likely lads, changes to his personal life including getting married and Ivan increasingly moving away from Leicester.
The project is a biography of Ivan and the Likely Lads, due out late October/early November, and mostly completed but plenty of loose ends, including this one, to try to nail down. Great to speak to Phil though; his outstanding talent shines through.

Sporting prowess must run in the family, his brother is a very good snooker player, has his own room/table at his house. Not bad at Golf either. He does ask me about fishing things though, which I find strange when his brother was/is such a good angler.

I'll look forward to the finished article Mark.  :thumsup

When the book is nearing completion I'll post details but currently at circa 100,000 words so it's mostly there. Needs plenty of editing and a few stories likely to surface later this month.

Yep, that's Phil. Fished with him in the 1960's on the Leicester Canal at Aylestone - awesome angler for his age. Last saw him at Ivan's funeral.

Mark W - I am now aware of your current 'project', I have a loft-full of angling press going back to the 1970's should you require to fill any gaps in your research.
