3RD ROUND RESULTS SENSAS CANAL MASTERS

#1

Unread post by joffmiester »

Just like to thank everyone for turning out on Sunday it's easy to stay away in these conditions at moment .Not only snow water Flood water Zero temperatures we also arrived to the canal with a frozen lid something we do't see that often on the loughborough canal as it does flow . At the draw Brian stated we would fish 10.15 to 3.15 which in my books was the smartest move all day . The total anglers fishing was 64 the best turnout so far with some of the biggest names in the sport one of those Names is Darren Massey. It's not that often a match is won from the same peg as the previous match on the loughborough but Darren is one of the best canal anglers in the country and made no mistakes even with it being frozen at the start . Although Darren did'nt have a ice breaker with him and at the halfway stage in the competition he admitted  8oz with everyone to his right catching a few roach . As Darren did in the previous round decided to fish for perch and with a hour left had managed 3 big perch to 2lb14oz after that Darren managed to catch Roach that had started to feed for a total of 3kg 600g just beating Matt Hall two pegs away using top three plus one all day catching everything that swims for 3kg 280g .Alan Donnally is having a run on the canal and slipped into 3rd place with 2kg 380g Alan had a surprising first hour and half catching a couple of bonus skimmers a long with a few hand sized ones before they shut up shop although Alan did say he lost a really big fish under the ice . although Alan has already qualified he managed to catch a few roach on Bread as well as Joker . 4TH went to Mark perkins again a mixed bag of fish for 2kg 350g Matt Derry finished the top 5 off with 2kg 200g
Sections for the conditions i don't think the weights are that bad
1 Rob wootton 1kg 320g
2 Darran Bickerton 1kg 280g
3 Derek Jackson 2kg 040g
4 Simon Wilsmore 1kg 600g
5 Lee Wright 2kg 050g
6 Ben Sharratt 1kg 150g
7 Aca Cooper 2kg 050g

Qualifiers for the 3rd round are
Rob Wootton
Darran Bickerton
Matt Derry
Mark Perkins
Simon Wilsmore
Ben Sharratt
Darren Massey
Next round 1st February please make sure you look at the list of names  :thumsup :thumsup

One reason i like running matches is photo's like these Phil Ackerley has recently returned from working and living in Sweden earlier last year . Phil has fished the sensas Soar Masters and is now fishing the Sensas Canal Masters . Phil is often the last off the bank as he is so interested in how others have done and often takes loads of pictures to help me when possible . It's great to see match anglers that don't moan about their pegs and deal with what they have been handed . fishing against some of the best anglers in the country doesn't both Phil he see it as an opportunity to better his own fishing . Earlier this year Phil said i can't catch big perch what am i doing wrong well yesterday although did'nt qualify and just missed out he did manage a couple of nice perch :thumsup

Here's a great tip you can see the liquid container and rope basically it's a great Icebreaker for cat ice. if you half fill it with water it can't sink and mess up the bottom of your peg yet it will clear most cat ice from your peg . Joe roberts told this and i think it comes from the fens joe just keeps it in his van either empty or with water in it for spare screen wash so it's there if needed . make sure you use a strong container and not a milk container or it will split ;) ;) ;)
