Grueller 7 - White Roses rule
Posted: January 3rd, 2015, 7:35 pm
13 gruellerites turned up for this match, fished on the Priory section at Armitage. I pegged out, giving everyone 25 of my twinkle toes paces (Thanks OBI).
No wind, and a nice colour, but the water was bloody freezing after the thaw, so it could turn in to a proper grueller
Got back to the draw to see a few "old faces" in Digger, Mark O and Big Baz, welcome back lads
Fed a punch line, a choppie/caster line, and a squatt/gb line. Started on the whip and punch, having a few little un's for the first 45 minutes. A peek to my left saw KOD netting a perch, while Big Col to my right seemed very quiet, and not doing a lot of shipping so head down and concentrate. The weather was evil, with torrential rain for the first couple of hours.
After 2 hours, a boat came through from the left, immediately followed by a bright yellow one who seemed determined to catch up with the first boat :surprise :surprise. Big Col gave the boater the full volley of "niceties" which I am sure TK could have heard under his duvet back in Great Wyrley. All pegs wiped out by one stupid moron with a boat :fisticuffs.
Took me half an hour to tempt fish back on the squatt line, but after 15 minutes having a fish a chuck, along came Esox Lucius, who erupted twice in the swim in 10 minutes . Managed to build the swim back up and had a decent last half hour, catching half ounce roach every drop in
The tale of the scales:
Peg 1. Phil B. 0-15-11
Peg 2. Bluse4eva 0-14-3
Peg 3. Trevor B. 1-5-0 :surprise Nice one Trev
Peg 4. Mark O. 1-11-2
Peg 5. Mike E. 1-4-2
Peg 6. KOD. 1-10-0 Well and truly Yorked again
Peg 7. MrV. 3-1-2
Peg 8. Big Col. D-N-W :surprise
Peg 9. Yamo. 1-1-1
Peg 10. Tricast. 2-8-6
Peg 11. Big Baz. 1-9-0
Peg 12. Digger. 2-4-12
Peg 13. OBI. 1-1-1
So a Yorky 1-2 to start the New Year of gruellers. Thanks to all for turning up and being entertaining as usual
