Simple Match Fishing Forum

The final round of the Oxford winter league was fished by 6 teams of 8 on the Oxford canal from Kings bridge to Walton well road. After midweek hard frosts the canal had cleared and a hard match was predicted and it was hard except for 1 section where 4 out of the top 5 all fished. End pegs were still favoured but did not dominate like previous canal matches. On the team front Drennan Oxford once again dominated and finished the league clear winners having won 5 out of the 6 matches.

1st Paul Glenfied - Drennan Oxford - 10lb 14oz. Paul drew in the middle of the Frenchay road up section and despite not fancying the peg he had a good net of mainly skimmer bream to 1lb on the pole and bloodworm over joker feed. His section win also gave him the individual points win as well.

2nd Ian Young - Drennan Oxford - 6lb 12oz. Ian drew last weeks winning peg, below Elizabeth Jennings bridge and had a mixed net of skimmer, roach and perch on bloodworm over joker feed.

3rd Dereck Allen - Tubertini Apollo Black - 6lb 8oz. Dereck also drew in the Frenchay road section and had skimmers and perch on the pole and bloodworm.

4th Colin Wainwright - Sensas A4 - 6lb 4oz

5th Darren Wright - Sensas A4 - 6lb 1oz
