The Horns

I decided not to fish our first club match for the main reason the venue kept getting swapped about and I didn't want to fish where you have to watch your gear every time someone walks by....
I fished the Horns with Goodyears instead.
At the draw which I missed due to getting my gear out the car I was left with only a few pegs. I seem to have a knack of drawing peg 2 at this venue which is know to be a flyer.
Sure enough I pulled out peg 2
My mukka Big Bob had drawn peg 3, well within earshot for some yellow stream taking
Sprucey had come along for a day out also but not fishing, my cheerleader again
I fished 13m , 7m and shallow. I set up a pellet waggler too but never used it.
Started on the 13m line and had some skimmers but it was very slow. I had cupped in about 2 pints of pellets, hlf a pint of caster and some corn on the 7 meter line.
I left the 13m line for a bit and tried the 7m line. I was getting liners so I knew there was some fish down there and the float went under and shot off to the middle of the pool, I had to add the rest of my pole to chase it out.
Eventually got him in, it was a ghostie just under double figures(I think)
That was going slow also so I topped it up with some more pellets, corn and caster and went on the shallow rig. It was crap really, had about 2lb of roach and skimmers and went back on my 7m line and had 1 more carp.
Stayed on this line till the whistle and missed a few bites which I think were liners.
I weighed 20lb 5oz which was enough to win.
2nd was 14lb... Mikey Thompson
3rd was 13lb 8oz... Colin Upton
Hard days fishing really.
