BENNETTS RIVER SOAR OPEN RESULT

#1

Unread post by joffmiester »

Another great turnout for the natural venue being a rest week for the winter league we throught we'd give other parts of the river ago . Adey Reynolds had spent most of the week making the sections fishable such as the Brinks Osiers and with a overflow in numbers we had to use 1860 and the abbey just hoping we haven't put too much pressure on them for this weeks winter league .
with 36 very keen river anglers taking part it was hard to say where it would be won . When in form Nick west came up and drew peg two on the Brinks a out and out chub peg !!! then another inform angler Sam Merry drew peg one at the abbey it was clear the rest of us would have to pull something out the bag . Dave Petch did just that pulling out the first gulley peg on the osier beds another known chub peg but like most of these pegs they hadn't been fished in matches for sometime . Dave by the end of the match had 25lb 1oz putting on 4 chub for 17lb Dave had to stand up and fish 13 metres to keep in touch with the fish for a well earned win .Inform Sam Merry didnt have it all his own way and like any chub peg its upto the chub whether they want to feed .Sam managaged 4 and some chublets for 23lb 12oz for a 2nd place in the match .Third on the day was a tie with Nick West and Tony Marshell both had drawn the brinks and both were on chub pegs Tony managed 3 big chub while Nick had a few more smaller ones but on the whole another great match
1ST Dave Petch Quorn AS 25lb 1oz
2ND Sam Merry Wigston AS 23lb 12oz
3RD Nick West and Tony Marshell 16lb 12oz
5th Steve Hurst  Wigston AS 14lb 15oz
6th Rob Jones Drennan  13lb 10oz
