Great to see such a great turn out on the banks of the River Soar 64 top anglers took part in the Soar Championships becoming bigger and better each year . With the river very clear and low plus the cold night before this competition would be hard to crack with bonus Tench ,Perch and skimmers being the target .The large numbers of roach had switched off on the day so it was all about self confidence and belief that you could catch a bonus fish .Nick West Long Eaton Fed managed to find some large perch and a bonus tench for a weight of 6kg 450g [around 14lb] to take the title of Soar Champion . Nick fished pole and feeder with worm and caster being his best bait. Chris Buckingham Long Eaten Fed always sets his stall out for big fish and again it paid off with two tench around 6lb a piece for a total of 6kg 200g [around 13lb] Chris had a few perch to go with them.
