Hi guys, I'm fishing at Barford on the Warwickshire Avon this Saturday. I know I'll be above the weir and wondering if anyone knows how it's fishing and best tactics and baits. It's a venue I've never been to before so any help would be helpful.

Not sure how it's fishing at the moment, there haven't been any matches on it since the festival in july ... reported in current match fishing mag i think?
but September is usually the best month for above the weir.
It's slow and deep .... Top 5 territory on a lot of pegs.
I'm not really the person to recommend as I don't fish above very often .... But mostly you'll be targeting roach and perch. There are bream, eels, a few tench, odd chub and some carp .... But with lack of rain they'll be a huge gamble to target.
Personally, I'd go with a choppy line at bottom of the shelf, a ground bait and pinkie line at about 12m, loosefeed a few casters and hemp over it.
A few pegs have features over, so may be worth an up in the water wag & mag option for bits and chance of a chub.
I might be tempted to try bread before I put the gbait and pinkie in .... Dropper in some liquidised and see if there's an immediate response.
Even when it's fishing well four to five pounds is good section points in my experience ..... But you can get up to a stone of roach and more if the bream show.

Thanks for that info sounds a bit like where I've been fishing on the soar. Think I'll either be on A or B section I've been told.

C section is the best one above the weir ..... But a and b are more even. It's a lot like Sutton bonnington ... But deeper and fewer fish!

to be fair I've only been to sutton in winter when the roach shoal there so it's quite good in parts.
Which team are you fishing for tomorrow? surely one of your team has a bit more info?
See at the Joseph Arch anyway - I'm filling in for a team below the weir .... which is rather different in character!

I had 9.11 of dace off the end peg - 4th in section. Slightly disappointed as I was struggling to catch down the middle where the flow was and discovered too late that they were behind some stick ups across. I was still catching at the end and should definitely have had a bit more.
