According to our humble oppinion this is one of the most beautiful and also demanding fishing track in Croatia. This track has been known for excellent fishing (average 6-7 kg) results but sometimes also for lack of fish that can not be easily explained (average 1-2 kg).

Most common fish are:

a) Nase (Chondrostoma nasus) aprox 30% of total fish in canal, average size 30 cm, 600 gr. Specimens of this fish can reach up to 1.5 kg

b) Brabel (Barbus barbus) aprox 40% of total fish in canal, averege size 40 cm, 700 gr. Specimens of this fish can reach up to 3 kg.

c) European chub (Squalius cephalus) aprox 10% of total fish in canal, average size 20 cm, 250 gr.

d) Roach (rutilis rutilus) aprox 10% of total fish in canal, average size 35 cm, 500 gr. Specimens of this fish can reach up to 2 kg.

e) Ide (Leuciscus idus) aprox 5% of total fish in canal, average size 50 cm, 1 kg. Specimens of this fish can reach up to 2,5 kg

f ) Bream (Abramis brama) aprox 5% of total fish in canal, average size 30 cm, 600 gr. Specimens of this fish can reach up to 2,5 kg

Also there is (not always) bleak (Alburnus alburnus) average quantity that can be caught on game (3 hours) is aprox. 3-4 kg. This year we have large amount of an anusual fish for this water bighead carp (Aristichthys nobilis). The best explanation for bighead carp in wather is that aprox around 5/2013 there were large flooding of nearby carpodroms in Hungary and Slovenia so fish escaped and seatle in our water. We are not shure that bighead carp will stay in water for the year 2014.

The entire lenght of the track is clear and without any barriers and this is excellent for fishing. As you can see the slope is covered with a layer of big river pebbles which are slippery, especially when descending to the fishing places while in the hands you carry fishing equipment. The slope has an angle of 45 to 60 degrees.

Fishing technique ...

The most common fishing technique that local fisherman use is Bolo fishing technique. This is very good technique because it gives you opportunity to play with stop&go way of fishing in the way that you hold the float at one position for a small amount of time while hook is raising from the bottom. This is loved by Nase and Roach. Range of floats for bolo fishing that local fisherman use goes from 5 gr on sectors A to 14 gr to sector E depending on current (flow).

Second mostly used fishing technique is fishing with road 7,8,9 or 10 m with elastics (narrow 1,6 mm or hollow 2,2 and above). Competitors use floats from 8 to 20 gr like (MILO Arno) and main lines from 0,14 to 0,20 and hook line from 0,14 to 0,18.

And also there is third technique the is used by competitors - roubasienne fishing. In this technique competitors us lollipop floats in range from 10 up to 50 gr and main lines from 0,16 to 0,24 and hook lines from 0,14 to 0,22. This is most common technique for competitions and this technique is well known on this track if you want to caught big Barbel (from 1.5 kg and more).

Let's talk about ground-baits and baits....

Ground-bait is a key to attract and retain fish on your fishing spot and here is some secrets from DB EXPERT team :)

First you have to make sure that your ground-bait is sticky and heavy enough to stay on fishing spot. If your ground-bait is light and not heavy enough you are actually helping your left opponent to catch twice as much fish than you. To obtain perfect level of bout postulate (sticky & heavy) you must use coolant ( Sensas Liant a coller ) and to weight your ground-bait you must use river pebbles from 3 to 5 mm (it can be optain in our shop). This is important ingrediants used for weight your ground bait and also to make heavy balls of river pebbles with magots that attract big fish.

Here is some proven mix from DB EXPERT team (for 17 liter ground-bait)

Not sure if this explains the contrasting fishing at certain times but I am sure it is a heavy flowing canal. As there are no barriers, as it says, the flow must come from somewhere. My guess and that is all it is, that there is possibly a hydro electric station somewhere extracting the water and putting it back.
This would explain the irregular fishing, more so with the bleak, as the water temperature would be possibly prone to variations.
These are only my thoughts, I don't really know, does anyone? Image
