From 18 to 25 July, Chris Vanden Eycken achieved a remarkable feat: fish for 162 hours non stop. Everything happened in a beautiful pond with an area of [ch8203][ch8203]1.5 ha, the castle Viane, Belgium.
Chris stayed awake all this time. He was allowed to take a 15 minute break every 3 hours to relax and wash. He ate while fishing, always with a cane in hand and no bar to the cart seat!
A physiotherapist was on hand to massage and make him exercise. As it is not recommended to sit all this time, Chris had to wear compression stockings to help blood circulation. A bailiff was also present to monitor every hour if Chris was still awake.
In any case, our new record holder had foreseen everything.
During these 162 hours, Chris has used 45 kg and 25 kg of bait pellets (IM5 Green). Catches were mainly composed of carp (up to 8 kg) and bream (2 to 3 kg for larger)
At the end of these 162 hours, Chris managed to catch over 600 fish for a total weight of over a ton.
Congratulations for this new record because it is a real achievement to keep awake for 162 hours non stop when fishing! A new record you can also find in the next "Guinness World Record"
