Must admit I haven't watched too much football this time.
I watched the England game last night and at times it was just like watching headless chickens stabbing at the ball.
Our media don't help and for all the after match piffle the pundits rattle on about Thierry Henri is the only one that tells us all why. England do NOT play as a team and haven't for more years than most of can remember. In a way the system is also to blame, - why should they bother, they are getting astronimical sums of meney and as Crafty points out made to look like primadonas, more like plonkers.

If anyone remembers the '66 win the media was much the same. Who was Alan Ball (bless him) he hadn't got an ounce of skill said the media, he shouldn't be in. In his own admission he did lack in the skill department but what a team player, if anyone gets the chance of seeing a full recording of that Final (not the usual five minutes) that guy popped up everywhere, he seemed to cover for every England player there was.
We have nobody anywhere near him yet fitness levels are supposed to be higher, - they obviously are in other countries but they have stood still here in more ways than one.
Jack Charlton was another one that was told , - he couldn't play, - remember the belief, pride and skill he and Maurice Setters put into the Irish side that did so well in the World Cup? We have none of that, - how some of these supporters put up with it I don't know?

I thought there was a ray of light when Hodgson was appointed, maybe there still is but not with this crop.
How many of them would play if they were paid nowt and had to find all there own expenses. A truthful ballot on just that would be interesting.

Only my opinion, I may well have it all wrong.

Bring back the Home Internationals so we can see English players or a select England B against the England. we play too many friendly's where players are subbed every 5 minutes and often players get out of them !!!

The buck stops with the FA for me they make an absolute fortune year in year out with all the money that is in English game yet this crappity smack excuse of a national team is churned out year after year ??? the FA is a crappity smack joke !!!! nice work if you can get it though !

They couldn't drop Rooney because NIKE his main sponsor threatened to pull their money out ...... if true this is the sh!t that is going on and the FA come out with all sorts of PR sh!t . Hodgson knows the score and is a very good manager , his hands are tied with the sh!t players he has at his disposal but he also knows which side his bread is buttered with the phenomenal contract his employers the FA have given him . Agree with joff , the home internationals would be a good idea to blood some quality young talent . Lastly I learnt many years ago not to get excited about pour national football and the hype the media throw at it to make money . Our best chance was when Hoddle was is charge but crappity smack it up , we had fantastic young players then with Beckham , scholes , Owen , Gerrard etc etc we have been sh!t ever since !!!
