Not the greatest of conditions greeted the 50+ anglers red hot bright and very little breeze. The river looked good first thing in the morning when we checked the bank for boats .plenty of fish topping but once we were on the bank it was always going to be a difficult day .As the competition unfolded it was quite clear some anglers had set the store out for big fish while others went down the G/B pinkie line catching what they could . unfourtantly even these fish that are normally queing up over G/b made themselves very hard to catch .i found it quite interesting watching my section as it was pretty even and most anglers kept looking a round at everyones fish that were being caught .That was until one of the lads that had sat it out for the big fish hooked and landed a Tench which completly changed the section as it would of been diffecult to get 5lb or 6 lb small fish on the day
This was the same all the way through the length hard but fair on the day Dave Petch of Quorn AS managed better than most on small fish and being the only angler in the top4 without a bonus fish . Dave weighed 2kg 900g to win the first round
Here's to the next round 6th July i think we have plenty of spare tickets for this one as its the begining of the holidays in Leicestershire so i'l keep updating
