ENGLAND CHANGE
Fish ‘O’ Mania International Challenge England Team
Changed England side set for title defence
THE FOURTH annual Fish ‘O’ Mania International Challenge is set to take place at Cudmore Fisheries on Sunday 13th July, and defending champions England field a changed line-up with seasoned international Des Shipp replacing Alan Scotthorne MBE.
The first two years of the Matchroom Sport-promoted tournament consisted of four-man teams representing the Home Nations before it changed to an expanded pair’s event in 2013. All three runnings though resulted in England victories, with Will Raison putting on a blistering late show last year to overhaul a big deficit and deny Scotland a win.
Des Shipp, for his part, was an England team member in 2011 and 2012, when he accumulated the biggest weight of all 16 competitors to help his side to victory.
2013 runners-up Scotland field the same pairing as do Wales who claimed third spot last time. The only new addition to the line-up is Poland, who replaces Germany.
The first prize for the event remains at £10,000 with £5,000 for the second placed finishers. There is also a £1,000 prize for the biggest fish landed on the day.
2014 sees the 21st running of Fish ‘O’ Mania, Britain’s biggest fishing event. Live on Sky Sports for over five hours on each of the two days, the event takes place at Cudmore Fisheries at Whitmore near Stoke-on-Trent.
