Ferry Meadows - Match Result

Match fished Sunday 25 May.
19 fished and top 3 paid with 3 section winners.
Mick Smith, Steel City, made the trip from Sheffield worthwhile putting together a match winning bag of bream of 53lb on Overton peg 6. Mick had only a small perch in first 3 hrs but then a few bream switched on. He then caught steadily on woodlice so he told me - maggot and sweetcorn really - and it was good to see even a man of Mick's experience get a real buzz when we weighed in the largest one at 9lb 4oz.
In second place was Mick Davis from Leicester. Mick fished on Monument bank, peg 73 and his net went 45lb 15oz. Mick caught bream on popped up sweetcorn from what I hear. Third place went to Roger Wakenshaw from Lincoln, putting 42lb 10oz on scales from peg 33 on the high bank Gunwade. He caught on worm.
Tony Sinfield had 40lb 8oz from peg 98 for 4th and collected his section - making what I think was his first trip to Ferry Meadows. I had 39lb 7oz from Overton peg 9 for 5th and picked up my section and the high bank section was collected by Terry Noble with 10lb 6oz.
Fish were spread around as top 3 all from different areas and the top 3 all fished slightly differently although all on feeder - so no out and out in method. Payout worked out well as each section had a frame and 2nd place picked up the section by default. Doesn't always work out like that.
The feedback was positive and some lads will probably get back next week but the next Open is on 8 June. Interest is higher for this second match with a number of people already booked on who didnt fish yesterday. If you want to book on please call or text me with your name on 07917 000058 - makes admin a little easier on the day. Be good if we can get 30 on to that match and we can pay top 5 and sections.
