sorry couldnt  make it today !

Thanks for letting us know early....by the looks of it everyone knew last night that none of the cashmores lot were going to turn up.

if we had known we could of pegged it so there were no long walks and no anglers pleasure fishing due to empty pegs...the draw could also have taken place on time.

Canal fished hard.

It was won by Hoddy Nolder with 5-14-12 of roach on caster down the track, followed by his Barbara with 5-7-5 of roach on bread, caster and hemp.

3rd went to Browny with 3lb, mostly made up of 1 bream, 2lb 11oz, caught on first cast with double red maggot.

Thanks for organising it Fert...

and thanks for the sandwiches Hoddy.

Okay, it'll soon be Xams. Or at least next weekend and events will overtake this so here goes...

1st Mouse77 from MD's
2nd Tigerbay from MD's
3rd The chap with the 2lb 110z bream- My sincere apologies as I dont know his name.

I arrived late after getting as far as Perry Barr dog track and realising i'd left half my gear in the garage ! Thats the prob with just taking what you need so you can travel light, always spiltting my stuff up and taking what I need from the garage. Had to about turn to get it, arrived in a fluster not knowing anyone, to draw just about before everyone was on their way to pegs.

We were well spread out due to some people not turning up and vacant pegs left ! Anyway I didnt know what to expect. I'd spent an hour (literally) with a small amount of tackle on the sat afternoon a bit further along, on the wrong section, fishing waggler to far side for just one roach. So as you can imagine thought it would be hard. Bumped into FERT on the towpath for the first time.

Come the day, I started with a Often find this is instant if its going to work at all. then fed ed hemp over thisas well. After a few more breadpunch roach I switched to hemp and had better fish. When the Hemp bites were coming I ditched the bread alltogether as the fish were a better size, slightly. They kept coming, in spurts.

All the time was dropping pinkies to my left and right on the inside. Tried there later and had some VERY finicky bites and managed 3 or 4 tiny perch. Abandoned these lines.
Later put some casters on the deck a third of the way out, left it for a while and then had a 10oz roach and i'm sorry to say another one on which I lost. Mouse was passing and speeded up his walk back to his peg ! Nice fish and noticably bigger on caster, but slow to come. Switched back to hemp line down the track and kept working to take the occasional fish.

within one dram before. Very happy how I fished in the circumstances, most things went well.

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. The last commercial match I fished I Canals and rivers more my bag though.

At the weigh-in many had struggled. Mouse77 pipped me with 5-14-something of bigger fish. I didnt see them but understand thay may have been nice roach down the track on caster, also one small tench. He must know what he's doin'.

I fihed 18 hooks mainly on .08 line but could easily have gone lighter, should have really. Light tackle and very regular constant feeding the key for me. Cant ever remember fishing a canal without boats before. Dont remember ever fishing down the track either, its always been near and far side in the past. That made it very enjoyable. I loved it, which is why i'm wittering on about it now. It's good to read a report I think though after a match. Sorry I dont know much detail about others experiences.

Only other thing was my nearest competitors were about a hundred yards each way on either side ! Mouse to my right and FERT out of sight under the motorway. All in all a quiet match then, and without the boats like fishing my parks pools for roach on hemp.
