Master Hughes. You just said what I have said.......I think.
My feeling is for you gents to take on the challenge. If you fail, then look to do it next time - like I have to. I actually think you can do it. Just don't forget to fish next to the near bank for early fish!
Good luck.

I was told the team pulled out cus theres a big money match at cudmore same day, also someone who fished for them said they wouldn't have fished final if they had got there anyway.

People don't seem to realise that Drennan are not the team that caused the problem..
The team that fished a qualifier with no intention of fishing the semi are!
Totally agree

Bill.
The only people killing match fishing are the ones that bandit fish the league matches for one thing...MONEY..then when they have to play with the big boys out of their comfort zone they take their ball home!

Regardless of what you all say, there will only be one loser after all this, match fishing.
I can't believe that something I have loved doing for 50 years has sunk to this all time low.
Once again competitors telling organisers...................
Anybody ever considered DNW's views on this. Did they ask to fish this semi-final?

At one point there were only Trabucco and Leicester fishing......
Yeah righto. I dont think anyone has a problem with fishing against DNW, its the principle of whats gone on and the way it seems to have been done. Unfortunately DNW and Joff have been messed around as a result. Almost every captain/team in the Loughborough semi seems to agree so they cant all be wrong. I think Joff disagreed with the decision too and he is the match organiser. These teams have all won their right to be in that semi.
The TBF league 'teams' thought there would be a semi at TBF too. That wasnt the case and now one has pulled out at the 11th hour. That is the route of the problem. Im not even sure if a team doing that can be punished as it would almost certainly mean the loss of that division next year - unless theres a semi on a commercial next year I suppose.
I feel sorry for Joff as if its not the uncontrollable things like weather and boats weve had every week its having to completely re peg a big match.

I honestly dont know if there was a rule in place to cover this. It seems not, else this wouldnt have happened. But in Ken/AT's defence, why would a team NOT want to fish a semi final OR a Final? Isnt that why they originally created a team/league? They might as well do what the Makins league has done and run their own independent league...

In no other sport would this have happened, we keep asking for our sport to be run more professionally, to me it was like arsenal being knocked out of the champions league a team from man uniteds league dropping out and a raffle occuring to let them back in, would never happen. I think we have to have rules and these rules should be adhered to.
I spoke to a Drennan lad last night and asked if the boot had been on other foot would a certain member of their team have tried to stop it and he admitted he probably would though i admit most of the drennan lads wouldn't be bothered.

On a similar theme Sams Tackle Wigan have pulled out of the Hampton Springs Semi, we know KW has offered the place to Standish who finished 3rd but who in there right minds would turf up to a venue for such a big match with no time to prep unless you know it very very well....
The conflict here is the split between Commie leagues and natural venues. For me we all do our bit on our favoured water then when qualified get taken out of your comfort zone whether it's TBF to a Canal or Wigan to a Commie.
Only a dozen teams or so In the whole of the country are capable of doing well on both so we shouldn't be suprised when things start unravelling....
It's a crying shame for the sport tbh....... :'(

last year Drennan had to travel all the way to monks lake, the year before i think browning central went to gold valley and they dont fish commies, when there was rumour that drennan wern't going to monks lake tipton would have have asked as 3rd team in thier division to have fished. As a team angler i will fish anywhere that my team needs me to and often fish carp venues in super league even though i dont like them and am up against it.

Do you think we should throw all the rules out of the window or just make them up as we go along.
I would be happy for our winter league to have all the best teams in the country in it, as i have said many times i enjoy fishing against the best, for me its not about winning (and no one could accuse me of being win at all costs) but trying to win, winning 1 match a year fishing against the best means more to me than if i won a small match every week and if fishing to win money became a motive for me i'd pack it in, i just think there needs to be rules and you cant just change them

Couldn't agree more Lloydy, We've thrived on competing at a higher level over the past two years and have a long term goal of getting out of Div 1 and into the Championship metaphorically speaking.... The wobbly cheeks kicking we'll get on Saturday will show us what the gap between the two levels are....
We know that if we are to get there we need to be able to take on Commercials as so many matches at that level are on those venues, either that or we continue to stumble around the NW canal scene proving now't for the next few years before we all get fed up...
If TBF or Sam's didn't fancy it why wait until the week before to let KW know? that's really inconsiderate....
On a similar theme there are too many quality anglers in our area who have dropped off the match circuit to fish at club level and I'm sure its the same all over the country, a quick peek at the AT Club competion has a number of familiar faces fishing at well below there skill levels, whats' that all about?

Well said CV.
Wished I'd never said crappity smack all in the first crappity smack place.
Is match fishing a sport? It's more than that, it's a hobby.

Nobody said it was Drennans fault, i fish against them nearly every week for 52 weeks of the year and enjoy fishing against them and consider them mates. I've always stated that i enjoy fishing against the best, but when asked to make a decision on behalf of the team the points that were put forward were:
2 teams from each league qualify for semi(only teams from tbf league should have been approached)
Did ken make anyone aware of what he was doing(no)
What is the right decision for our team
Where do these changes to the rules stop.
There would have been objections if the team coming in had have been shaky, trentmen or tipton if they hadn't qualified. In my opinion this situation should never have happened
Lloydy..
Remember two years ago when you joined the Warks after dropping out of the Shroppie?
There was a vote to let you join or not, i think it went 4-2 in your favour.
If another team had voted against you them you would not have got in the league.....

Aint gotta clue what that has to do with this, the rules are 2 teams from each league can't see the argument. We have had i don't know how many threads on here going on about rules and rules being broken, but does that just apply when we want them to. So anglers cant walk unless it suits us, or you can only name 22 anglers unless it doesn't suit us.
If we hadn't been voted in i'd have been peed off but that would have been the leagues choice as is set out in the rules. i don't know how many times i have to say i don't care who i fish against but have you ever heard me say that rules should be broken? I know some objected because Drennan are a threat and that includes some of my team, but i don't object on them terms, i objected because i think that it was wrong thats my honest opinion and nobody has made a valid point why a team other than out of TBF league should have been allowed to fish other than they are mates,if not playing by the rules to keep the peace will wreck match fishing does that mean we have to turn a blind eye to walking during national practices and such so not to upset people. I can't believe the bull i have read on this thread.
