Without wishing to upset you Dodge, take a look at The Monk Lakes Website.
It will give you some idea of the scale of the place.
It's just been brought for £4 million and the new owner has plans to expand it further !!!!!! Image

Nice one Dave - doin' the write up at gone midnight - thats dedication for you. And as always nice one Peter as well. By the way Peter did you survive Sunday?
Back to the match - like Peter said the tow was wicked - worst I've known it at Monk. In my peg it was happily pulling thru a 1.5g float with all the shot 6 inches from the hook plus 2 no10 1 inch from the hook. Fished it like a river, running thru about 4-5m and holding back and all that. In the end I found they took it more confidently with the bait firmly anchored to the bottom - hence the maggot feeder - both out in the middle of the lake and close in too - should have been on it from the start! Once again maggot produced better than pellet, corn - and the other change baits I tried - thats been a fairly consistent theme for me (and others) this winter. As for species caught - well how about this - in order of catching I got - perch, ide, roach, tench, bream, golden tench, chub, F1, barbel, common, mirror - I think thats 11 no less - didn't manage a gudgeon tho. Smallest was a half pound tench, best a 3lb F1 with barbel accounting for at least half the catch - they go to about 2-2.5lb now and boy do they put up a great fight. 2 years ago they were less than 1lb so sport with 3-4lbers in the next couple of years is going to be great. All in all a really enjoyable day with plenty of sport for most/all - you can always rely on Monk for that.

By the way Peter did you survive Sunday?

Having woken at 5am to 3" of snow and reports of 2 crashes on the M40 already showing on the AA Roadwatch site, I decided that discretion was the better part of valour Tony and stayed home.  ;)

Very wise Peter - Sunday looked like a really bad day for it - probably even worse than Easter Monday at Framfield. Image
