WINTER LEAGUE FINAL
well well well dazzala and myself both stood in the draw que together dazzala drew a skimmer area a good draw on the day they said as Alan henry had won off the peg in the week and i drew besthorpe 8 a barbel area knowing that 10 and 11 are out and out hot spots for barbel even so the week before 2 had
come off my peg so both dazzala and me fancied my peg a little than his
i've caught a few barbel on the soar but never many off the trent so i was looking forward to the chance casters and hemp and few maggots would be my main approach 3 feeder rods one block end with widened holes 3ft tail of
0.21 and a animal size 14 10lb main line
feeder rod two just scaled down a little with a 16s on 0.17 line
the 3rd rod i'd set up was a straight lead with a 5ft hook length this is what i'd thought i'd of caught on because our pegs were on the outside of a bend and all the water flowed under our feet
looking at my section i quickly named it the section of death Alan henry end peg Steve hemmingrey ,Dave brown Nicky moss Brad titmus one side of me and Wye champ Adey whittle the other and thats just to name a few
i couldn't tell you how much i fancied it until Brad said the Oxford lads had practiced on the pegs the day before and only had one bite between them why why is this allowed to happen in fact the water is open right through until the final next saturday this will make the match a farce as we already have to contend with barbel anglers fishing through the night as well
anyway back to the match just a underhand cast dead simple and on the nail every time it was just a matter of time before it went round
well we all waited and waited after a hour everyone started looking around no one had had a bite now considering the class of field i began to think it was running nicely looked perfect to be fair
after 2 hours the chap 0n 10 hooked and landed a barbel around 8lb ::) ::)well that gave us all hope then he had another 5lb yet no one else in the section other than this chap had a bite at this point
none of us had seen any fish topping not even bleak or dace i was still confident of a fish and still in the race i was only 2 bites behind
out the blue the malc on the end peg caught a barbel anytime now my tip was going to go round
Adey whittle got al exsighted but no still no bites going into the last hour i was willing the tip it looked that good it had got to go round i even had time to teach Adey and Brad the Dab song into the last hour the chap on 12 had a barbel this is it the river had started to back up and come up not the best conditions for barbel but a change anything could kick start the peg
well 4pm came not a bite not a nip nothing and i must say probabley my tidest match so far i couldn't see where i'd of done anything different
in the whole section Alan henry steve H ,Nick M, Brad Adey W,AND MYSELF ALL BLANKED
i'm not being funny but this competition has damaged and i think irrevocably team fishing in the future the venue is good but it must be the timing the tide for the final is shocking running off all day just hope we get barbel pegs i know someone has to win but this is fishing at its worst
well done to dazzala 4th in the 84 peg match with 10lb

A few had a go nothing came of it mate problem is its barbel or bust from what I've been told with it running all day Saturday it might fish a little better but doubt it there are loads of barbel anglers heading down there at night so I don't think there is a shortage of barbel just too early in the season for anything else to feed plus I've not been up there with a howling wind even yesterday's wind was bad for float fishing

roger snared a barbell on float tactics off 5 at Clifton...............but then again he can make a float dance

Even bigger certainty than Dorking, our local boys to get a medal out of the Junior National at TBF tomorrow.
So near, tied on points with Milo Bordon; ended up with silver, - on weight.
Brilliant effort, well done the boyz, could hardly have done any more, Milo Bordon are a right good side
Well done, some good young anglers on that and they recon not any young uns coming through

well the troops have received the dreaded emails and texts :( :( :( so they must be happy with the team for saturday and no replys
mind you it was a long message perhaps they are still reading it
No place for me whether i'm too honest but ive just not caught enough fish and you cant really count the practice days on your own plus ive only drawn at worsthorpe which is well lets just say CRAP
so watchout the camera will be out

Got the green light the other day from dunham syndicate to pass on their contact details to Alan Henry.
Not sure if its too late though.!!
Hopefully 3 day matrix festival...we'll have a section back at dunham instead of besthorpe
