Having watched and fished with an angler who lived close by to me develop at club level (Urmston AA) many years ago then through pure natural ability and class take the nations open scene literally apart on both natural and commercial venues becoming almost unbeatable it has to be Harry Billing
Another would be my old mate Lewis Breeze
time is still on Queenies side though

Pretty good top ten coming out of this topic
This is a great topic to set a challenge against the England team NOw that's what I would love to see in match magazines almost a knockout competition

Without a dought, Polly should of been picked years ago. He did the bizz in the trials at Holme Pierrepont leading up the World Champs, think it was a case of his face didn't fit. Mind you Milson was picked and not sure he should of been???

Chris, I agree Milson was a very tallented angler, better than some that have fished for England, but it takes more than ability to be in the England team mate......

Watched Kim Milsom in a 3 cournered (Italy, France and England) match at Pierrepont in '93. A "Trial" match before the world champs there. Kim may have had a way about him, but boy could he fish. Shame he packed it all in, who knows what mignt have been.
Sat behind Jean Desque too that day, got to have a go with his kit after the whistle as well, managed 3 Roach in 3 chucks on the pole line.

Keep 'em coming, I'll add two more to the mix.
Benny Ashurst
I had the utmost respect for Nige Bull, tremendous all rounder, - far better than the jokes he used to tell me
As Joff said somewhere, try picking a team from that little lot!!!
I never mentioned Lewis as I firmly believe he ought to be in the squad now. (I mean Q not the other one
).
