The concluding part of this exciting encounter............ Image

There was plenty of humorous banter in that last hour two, most directed in KOD’s direction as he clambering up the tree into recover his rigs then had to clamber back up the bank when he hit a fish 5 mins later cuss he’d left his landing net up the bank…………… Image

We were at one complete with nature........... sounds of the woodpecker, buzzards circling and the deer that came down to the waters edge, presumably for a drink, only to find several of the Cashmores Crew had invaded his territory.

And by the way HaHa if you are looking in on here - I didn’t intervene on that ‘debate’ around the pool about falling objects,………but I knew you were not talking twaddle Image

The answer to the question ‘Doesn't a more massive object accelerate at a greater rate than a less massive object?’ is absolutely not!

That is, absolutely not if we are considering the specific type of falling motion known as free-fall. Free-fall is the motion of objects that move under the sole influence of gravity; free-falling objects do not encounter air resistance.

More massive objects will only fall faster if there is an appreciable amount of air resistance present.

The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to force and inversely proportional to mass. Increasing force tends to increase acceleration while increasing mass tends to decrease acceleration. Thus, the greater force on more massive objects is offset by the inverse influence of greater mass.

Subsequently, all objects free fall at the same rate of acceleration, regardless of their mass.

Or put another way

All objects, regardless of size or shape or weight, free fall with the same acceleration

Sign that ‘metrication’ has taken over since my youth as I copied this from elsewhere

All free-falling objects (on Earth) accelerate downwards at a rate of 9.8 m/s/s (often approximated as 10 m/s/s for back-of-the-envelope calculations)

In my day at school many, many years ago when we still had pounds, shillings and pence, that was 32ft per second squared

Well that's the physics lesson over…………..and back to the match - and that’s how it finished for me - no more bites, Image Mr V on a late, late run - and Abumans 4 carp to my 3 must have done me as well off the next peg………….. :'(

As the scales went round, it was apparent that it was going to be close..............with a couple of close weights and reports that Harry the Hitman, still to be weighed in had had some lumps in the last hour too Image

So here’s the tale of the scales, courtesy of KOD………..

TOP POOL
1 HARRY THE HITMAN 5.6.0
2 HEINZER 3.6.0
3 TOMMY THE MAGICIAN 3.4.0
4
5 BRAMBLES 2.14.0
6
BOTTOM POOL
7 MRV 10.14.0
8 ABUMAN 0.4.0
9 TK 0.5.0
10 COTTI 4.2.0
11
12
13 RICH C 10.4.0
14 HAHA 5.8.0
15 KOD 1.14.0
16 BIG GEOFF 5.10.0

On reflection I thought to myself that it was perhaps fortunate for me that less than half had turned up for this one………….I’d only get half of the moans. :D :P

But surprisingly they didn’t come, well at least not in my direction. Surprisingly again I even received the comment from a member that he wouldn’t mind giving the venue another bash………

But perhaps even more surprisingly, and I’m not sure why - you tell me - that match was one of the most pleasant, friendly matches we’ve had for a few years…………
