when wigan run there centre matches the cost of a ticket is only £6 but there is usually a super pool run on the day which the majority enter
. this puts the total cost up to £11. but if the ticket price was £10 you'd hear the moaning down the M6
. bloody hard work them wiganers

£10 pools +peg fee is about right if you ask me. If its a league then dont mind an entrance fee either.
that means it aint to expensive an i do like to get out both days over the wk end
if was only out once a wk end then would'nt bother payin more but with the rising cost of fuel i will be looking at fishing matches cautiously this next season
good topic this 1 bill

Once a year I pay £25 a day for sensas final. I think Lee is spot on £10 plus peg fee
. There are very few if any that make a profit over a year, so more pools money = more loss

Unfortunately for the majority of us (apart from Bill !) we are still suffering from the recession. No pay rises for years and cost of living through the roof.
When we start to make cut backs our own hobbies can suffer and it is only then do you realise how much you can spend on fishing !!!!!
Let's be fair, pools have not really gone up for years, only peg fee's for commercials.
I admit to paying £25 per match, both days for the first 3 months of the season at Evesham.
Is it a lot, well yes it is, can I always justify it in front of a new Kitchen, yes !!!!! (not for much longer !)
Sod it, only here once !!!

I think £15 tops is enough for me and its deffo the norm around this area. All my fishing from october/march is done on the river ancholme and the pegging is £2.50 (i think). The league we fish before christmas requires you to have a Scunthorpe AA year book which are £25 ish. After christmas Scunthorpe AA run there own league for 9 matches and this doesn't cost anything to join, same £15 pools but they use all the pegging monies( £600-£700) and pay the top 6 out at the end
.I'm sorry to say that over the past couple of years cost has become a real issue and i'm not driving all over the places to fish, more going to venues were bait requirements are cheap with a good chance of a return. This summer i'll be fishing a tuesday night league and not going at weekends, all the dosh that i save will be spent on the black stuff in september on the shannon, thats if i come back from in april

Hit the nail on the head there Richie
and there is EVERY possibility of another recession happening once the cuts kick in !!!!!

if you put just £1 extra on to the pools and made it a winner take all would that increase the numbers fishing

You could also have a golden peg and put a £1 in the kitty and let this build up, that would probably be better than £1 winner takes all, as if it does build up to a decent amount, then word gets around and more people will fish the match.
As for river or canal matches my tops would be £15.

I agree with Woodrot, tenner plus peg fee is fair i think.I know Bill said don't include extra's like bait petrol etc,but at the end of the day this can sometimes determine how much your prepared to spend on pools and peg fee.For mere mortals like myself,we're only realistically fishing for our section, and a lot of the time the section money only just covers your pools and peg,let alone everything else.Teepot and Marko run some cracking opens at Cornerstone and the Loop,£12 or £13 all in,and not a huge amount of bait required,so its a cheap day out.The fishings normally good, and the money ain't bad,and although they are Open matches, you do tend to see a lot of the same faces week in week out,so it does have a club like feel to it.

£20 quid is tops for me Bill but in all honestly I would prefer £10 pools plus the peg fee.
Ditto that one Lee

.For mere mortals like myself,we're only realistically fishing for our section, and a lot of the time the section money only just covers your pools and peg
The majority of us MERE MORTALS in reality are fishing for the section price fund, 99.9 percent of the time because of the exelent quality of the field now a days,
and the fact that say fifty ( anglers) into the possible five or six match winning fliers dont go :(
im all for spreading the money around over the section price fund as this keeps bums on seats as it were, the odds of winning the section are slightly greater than
DRAWING THE , bridge hole , cable crossing, loads of room, chub/carp bush flier
paying £15.00 including peg fee seems about right
less is more i would think slightly less pools more anglers , more enjoyment.
I really dont fish primerily for the wedge , if i did i would fish the fishomanias etc......
For me its winning the match and beating my peers that means more to me than winning the wedge, The respect gained
IS or should be priceless
Winning the money
for me personally is the second bonus

A tenner plus any peg fee is plenty for me,
but guess i'm in a minority for not really wanting to fish for cash
