Re the 1999 results, two are worthy of further mention.....

First MGB's 13lb carp that came from Borrowpit - a 'proper' carp that fell to a piece of bread that was skill fully played and successfully netted on relatively light gear

Secondly 'Chubby' Mabbotts (RIP) all roach catch taken on hemp/tares at Ribbesford - he absolutely walked the match - think only a couple of lb was 2nd that day

Ironical those two matches - I booked them 'off' Big Baz when Pelsall (Baitex) Social Club controlled the canal..........long long before we had any aspirations of taking the canal on

The first match that Gez won didnt quite live up expections (as usual!!!) - Gez and Dickie Bird and crew had been down there the week before and sacked up on tincas on pegs near to the Fingerpost pub - 20lb plus weights needed to win were being talked of......

Next time out, cock peg Cotti drew the junction and made no mistake with an all roach catch..........not sure whether he fished the punch those days or whether he had em all on the caster
