Apparently a couple of guys from the club went down last Sunday = they had the usual skimmers, roach and perch.

But they reported there was an angler down in the boatyard emptying it - tench after tench

Ps OBI - that angler and his wife you spoke to a couple of weeks ago was the same person I refered too........they went down last week - fished the reed bed to the right of the 'main gate' just over the new bridge................and had another decent day with plenty of fish Image

OBI - this is your captain calling..........

Capture one of these and you've 'done your job' on Saturday ;)

This 31lb 7oz beautifully conditioned, coloured and wonderfully scaled mirror put in an appearance on The Extension the weekend before......

Image

It was caught by local angler Darrell Upton

What makes the capture even more amazing that it was Darrell's first excursion on the canal on his quest for the carp that are known to frequent the water

What a stunning fish! You would be hard pushed to find a better looking mirror imo.

Meant to post this earlier :-[

Darrell is certainly on a roll - 3 days after his first venture on the canal when he caught that stunner - he returned and had this leather

As a few of you will know, Cotti, the Warburton King, tends to be my ears and eyes on our canal sections

Spoke to him on Saturday before our match - our conversation went along the lines of……

‘Been up the cut lately?’

‘Yep, went in the week, it was crap’

‘Crap?’

‘Yep, crap.’

‘Which cut?’

‘The Extension’

‘And it was crap? Daint you catch?’

‘Oh yeh, course I caught, but I only had about 8lb of bits, never had owt decent, nothing bigger than 2oz, all tiddlers’

‘8lb of bits aint bad’

‘It is for me’

Spoke to him again today……….

‘Been up the cut this week?’

‘Yep, yesterday’

‘Which one?’

‘The Extension’

‘Any good or was it ‘crap’ again’

‘Nah, you aint gunna believe it. After last week, it was back to normal - I had at least 30lb, nearly all skimmers. You wanna get down there the weekend, it’s fishing its brains out’
