Yeah I remeber Sammy Mann, - good egg.
Am I right, -he won the Evesham Festival; Ind one year with 9 lb odd from the top end of Evesham.
If anyone else can remember it I was 4th or 5th and lost two chub with bite-offs that happened quite a bit in those days. I was near Bob Green and Frank Barlow

If I remember right you had to use the pole for the first half of the match; ne feeders at all. I had 6 lb odd of small dace, roach and bleak; fished 11 to hand with pinkie

2. Mark Downes Starlets

Dave Carter; Pete Hobson.
Middle row (L-R): Paul Downes; Pete Aske; Terry Lines; Barry Fulford; Ted Farmer.
Front row (L-R): Dave Williams; Gary Farmer; Steve Webb; Sammy Mann; Glenn Law.
I think that’s right, if not blame Angling Times circa 1978.
I used to keep press cuttings, used them for team sponsorship applications.
And yes, we do look a mess, but you should have seen the other teams!

crappity smack me I fished that match at Shrewsbury. Our team only finished two points behind Boglets in the League.
We did better on the Upper Trent League though
