Used to park behind your peg but I believe there are car parks now.
According to a previous post the Tacklefest is a seperate issue so who gives a crappity smack. Image

I can remember when the final used to on the Shannon in Ireland; Limerick to be exact. OK very patchy but brilliant nevertheless at the time.

I can also remember the organising body sending match reporters, yes by plane, to cover it.

If you forgive the pun, 'how Times have changed'.

Rudyard is 200 acres, how much crappity smack room do you want?

I think you could easily get 180 pegs on rudyard lake and there is plenty of parking if organised correctly, there is a road the full length of one side and a very large car park ,picnic area at the hotel end. I fished an open there a few weeks ago ;) the place is awesome, full of roach, perch, hybrids, big skimmers and the big bream have made a comeback. This venue can take a bit of hammer aswell and still hold its form well, as it responds well to plenty of feed going in.
The river weaver is simply THE fairest match venue in the country!!! Northwich to Winsford has around 500 pegs with good access and plenty of room. Again roach ,skimmers, hybrids and odd big shoals of bream to target and plenty of good sized eels also. The weaver can never flood if there is a lot of rain as a hi-tech computerised sluice continually runs the canalised river off very steadily if it rises a couple inches. These two venues would make brilliant final venues without a doubt and easily a huge improvement on the sadly declining Nene. The only downside to rudyard and the river weaver is b/joker isnt normally allowed but perhaps the relevent clubs / organisations could come to some arrangement if they were given the final ??

Deffo 2 brilliant venues to think seriously about there and they both hit top form around july Image Image

Read back through what you've just written Dodge and ask yourself IF you need Bloodworm and Joker.

Bloodworm and joker was always allowed in big matches at Rudyard.
Anybody remember Kevin Ashurst? Image Image

There used to be bloodworm matches week in week out at Rudyard and it always fished brilliantly, in fact it tended to get better and better.
Bloodworm is a natural bait in Rudyard; opposite the shallows there used to be a field that sloped down the lake; there was loads of silt on top of the 'slabs'. We scraped loads of bloodworm from there in the past.
If I remember right what put a stop to them was that it ended up with a sort of 'who took the most caught most' and many stopped going but the weight went up and up.
I can remember an International match with various countries, including France, fishing there; that was fantastic sport. Image Image Image
