If I remember right Joe Mercer's comment was made in regards to the slight cleft lip he had; you could hardly tell if he was smiling or not.
He was a man of many tallents, when he played for England and Stoke he also ran a farm up Rudyard way, he may still have it-not sure on that one.
He represented England at taekwando in the over 60's age bracket some two or three years back.

Remember seeing a documentary about Stan not so long ago, and was quite shocked that a quiet lad like him left his first wife to take up with a communist wench ....can't trust the quiet ones

The answer to No 8 is the earlier rounds in the 1930 World Cup Finals in Uruguay.
