Was proper cold in Berlin , quality place though 
Little story from whilst i was there ...... fishing related of course
.......
There is a big deep canal running through Berlin city center plus the river Spree , both looked to be full of fish but no one was fishing whenever i was passing by
. There are high walls and railings with around a 12 ft drop to the canal , anyway yesterday (sunday) i noticed a guy fishing between 2 parked lorries with a telescopic rod , landing net etc limited tackle but he knew what he was doing but looking suspicious . Anyway i decided to watch him fish for a short while ....... he trotted a big crowquill down the canal , heavy line and a biggish piece of bread paste on the hook . First trot down i watched the float buried and he missed the bite ! next trot down the same thing ! must be a few fish down there and decents ones at that i thought ...... next trot down the same happens but he hooks into a fish ! no messing about a 1 pound plus roach is hauled onto the roadside 
a wooden mallet is brought from a bag and the 1 pound roach is hit over the head and put into a plastic bag !!! next trot down the same thing is repeated and the bloke disapears ! unreal
