I've been waiting for him.
Had a few drinks with him years ago. Brilliant angler and he was a great chap and top company.
I won't tell ye who it is in case I've got it wrong but he has the same name as a famous newsreader.
He represented England before the World , - there was some kind of European match they could enter, I believe he first fished it in 1948.
Happy days; in his very late years he turned up at Swarkestone for the Trent Opens, - he did well in them.

He won the Leeds Annual in 1949 at Sixwould (420 fished) and again in 1951 at Kirkstead (281 fished).
The great J H R Bazeley must have been some angler - he won the very same match in 1903 at Kirkstead, (512); 1907 at Kirkstead (620); 1909 Kirkstead (774); 1922 Acaster (805); 1926 Acaster (891); 1927 Dunsforth (755) and 1928 Dunsforth (771).

1953 England fished the European Championship at Lake Garda in Italy................
And won
followed home by france in 2nd place, then hosts Italy in 3rd
Kenny Kendall took 3rd place individually with 13 fish for 1585 points. (Gold went to Marrillo of italy with 105 fish for 1991 ponts)
Talking of Horace, the England team comprised of Kenny Kendall, Horace Seed, Freddie Friend, Norman Seal and Henry Pollard (all Leeds) together with Stan Smith, Alf Wagstaff, Charlie Price, ollie bayliss and Norman haynes (all Birmingham)
