sellout expected on the stainy
Sellouts Expected On Canal Winter Leagues.
The calendar is set for this years winter fixtures on Thorne’s Stainforth and Keadby Canal. The venue generally proves one of the most popular winter venues in the country, with 100 anglers competing in the post Christmas pairs league.
Organsier, Mark Silman said: “The fishing has been brilliant on the canal for the last couple of years, and I’m hopeful that this winter will be better than ever. The only major change in how I will run things will be in the pairs league –where this year I am asking anglers to pay all money up front. This is to stop anglers from dropping out halfway through, as happened last year. As you might appreciate, when this happens it makes pegging the venue difficult and also has a negative effect on the weekly payouts. Pairs will be required to pay the full amount of £300, which will cover their entry and pools for all of the five rounds before the first match, in order to secure their place on the league.
This may sound a lot, but when you think that the winning pair will pick up £2,000 subject to attendance, with good money for the other frame places it is well worth the outlay.”
Al Bailey Memorial Teams Of Four Match
18th November, 25 teams of four, £100 entry per team.
Thorne Individual League
£50 individual entry.

Can't wait for this! Not long now... Went up on Friday, had about 8 lb on scrub fields seems a lot harder this year but it was quite coloured and the water temp wasn't very high, in fact the water was freezing! Anybody got any thoughts on how it might fish this year?

Paul Kerr fished 162 yesterday and caught 10-12lb, mostly skimmers and about 20 roach, very very coloured as Pedro says, I said after the Al Bailey that the canal needed some colour , I didn't want this much & for so long... "Rain, rain go away come back on a summers day"

Any idea how many Mark has got on for the pairs Peds
sellout expected on the stainy
At present Mark has 29 paid pairs booked on.
£50 each
£20 pools 5 x matches = £100
10 peg sections paid by default.
£260 individual winner on day.
Not sure of overall league payout, but with around £3000 in kitty it should be a bob or three !!
