last burton league match
well everything looked great for this final round the tempatures were up no real wind. the only dought i had was the fact that the night before we had a full moon i don't know why i watch the moon cycles like i do but the fact is when ever i fished after a full moon the roach fishing is never as good unless there's some colour in the water
at the draw ted yet again had sorted all the bait out for everyone on the league a brilliant effert and i thank him for running the league at the draw ted had said a couple of teams had dropped out [where have i heared that before ::) ::)] so there was no room for error if we were going to hold on to our second place as well as trying to take on the first place
the draw was made and i ended up in A section peg 4 after finding the section the peg looked good and i had a spare peg to my right
i took this at the end of the match as i was late setting up but as you can see plenty of colour
the bushes across the far side might of had 18in but looked as if they would hold some caster fish the mild was 4ft and perhaps 5ft at 4 metres
i couldn't tell you where i was but walking down to my peg i past a lock under a bridge with a stream running down the other side chubby or what ,so i did think the first two pegs might have a chance of one although they were a little further down.to my left i had inform darren lewis top canal angler plus he's on a roll after two big results the weekend before
well to my right and further down stream in the tree's is where sean ashby had won the match before so the talk was all about being the wrong end of the section
again this was taken at the end of the match
well what happened in the match was completly what we didn't expect none of us could get a bite .we all went nearly a hour without a fish
i'd put a positive line in with 150ml and a couple of others with very little bait as we hadn't a lot
i tried over a lot earlier than i wanted to first with caster then joker
out of the blue i started catching a roach a throw for the rest of the match all at 13metres in ,out one a throw .darren stouted up you must be winning the section by a country mile
then he started catching the problem was he was catching at 9 metres
at the end of the match we were the only two to catch roach at our end of the section i'd had around 60 to 70 roach
they went 12oz 10drms i had never caught such fish and didn't really want to but had i beat the master he had put a bonus fish on the scales and had 73 fish
i couldn't believe it he weighed 13oz
for 4th in the section giving me 5 points
i dont know the overall result but we ended up with 16 points and shakespeare had 17 points so we knew we had held onto second but had we done enough to catch the leaders

That's certainly interesting about the full moon coupled with a lack of colour Joff........I can add that one to our list of excuses

more excuses than a premier league managerlol
70 roach for 12oz, what elastic you use for them, slice some no 1 in half!
good read as usual Joff.
( do you know of any matches on this weekend coming)

I don't think we can blame the moon?! I just think there is a distinct lack of fish in that canal You only have to see the results from other canals... erewash fished well saturday and stainy fished its head off yesterday! There were four weights over 18lb and nearly everyone caught over 10lb, roach and skimmers!

One thing is for certain, it certainly weren't a blue moon
Match I went on; 9 ounces won a section three weeks ago. Same section yesterday 14 lb 9 oz of all roach to caster; you needed 7 lb odd to finish in the top half in the very same section.
Where was it? The very same Trent and Mersey Canal at Red Shale, near Middlewich and just to stir the shyte up bloodworm was banned

Might go Codnor.
There was one yesterday at JCB.
26lb won it, then 16lb, 14lb. all Bream on the feeder. be very surprised if it was ever won on anything else but you could maybe frame on the pole.
Bout 20 fished,next one on the 25th.

Thought of another one Joffie - you might have noticed on the news that we've had a fair bit of solar activity late last week - now that coupled with the full moon
