Joff im going to have to disagree on this occasion im afriad  ;)

Hodgson has exposed the rift between John Terry and Rio Ferdinand and the FA over the impending court case over Rio,s brother and Terry! Rio Ferdinand has been imense for Utd this season with Vidic out injured ...... it is common knowledge in Manchester he has pain killing injections every match as his back is koofed , he is however still a far better player than John Terry imho. Another story brewing is why has Micah Richards been overlooked ????? 2 proper players not in the England squad but 6 less than average Liverpool players (Hodgsons old club) have made it !!!! absolute joke  Image Image Image

Hope i am wrong but i cant even see England winning a game  !  Image  >:(  Image

i wondered when that old chestnut was going to come out  ::) ::)terry and Ferdinand  Image Imageits f#ckall to do with Rio if he hadn't twittered a load of stuff about it it might of been sorted by now
6 Liverpool players so what,he's taken the job its up to him all this soar grapes behind the scenes won't change a thing. he's the manager his choice we should all get behind him ,lets be about right we were going nowhere before he came along
after the event then dig your heels in either way he get it  :-/ :-/ :-/
its a thankless job
france are a very good team now and so were the belgiums i thought the back looked good on saturday to me it was the front where i can see a problem we have never been the quickest on the brake but it was so poor on saturday it only takes one goal to win even though its not pretty Image

I must admit to hoping that Stuart Pearce got the England job.
However, Roy Hodgson has and I know they have only played two friendlies but the situation, to me anyway, looks a lot better than it did at any time under CRAPello.
I couldn't give two fooks who he picks, I can only say the best players don't always make for good TEAM players. At least they are tying to pass the ball around a bit and even I can see there is something there.

I may get shot down in flames, time will tell, but meanwhile I will watch this team, Crapellos weren't worth watching, at least it looks like the current crop have a bit of pride in playing for England, not holding their hands out for a fat cheque after standing around for 90 mins.

ferdinand as been c@p all season so its no wounder he cant get in the squad never mind the team. He can't even speak for himself that he's unhappy not to have been picked and as to hide behind someone else to do his talking for him. It will just be a matter of time before he plays the race card.

lets see what happens today

Rio moves to diffuse England row

Rio Ferdinand has thrown his support behind England's Euro 2012 bid
Rio Ferdinand has pledged his support to England's Euro 2012 campaign despite the controversy that has surrounded the Manchester United defender's continued absence from the squad.

Ferdinand's camp reacted furiously on Sunday to the former England captain again being overlooked following the enforced withdrawal of defender Gary Cahill, who suffered a fractured jaw during Saturday's Wembley defeat of Belgium.

Rather than call Ferdinand, 33, into the squad, Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson selected inexperienced Liverpool defender Martin Kelly, prompting Jamie Moralee, Ferdinand's long-time friend and business partner, to accuse the new manager of "a total lack of respect''.

Debate over the decision has been raging, but Ferdinand insisted on Monday he would be fully supportive of the team in Ukraine and Poland.

He Tweeted: "Just so we dont get it twisted ere....i'll be in a pub somewhere supporting England this summer! Love the lads!''

For Hodgson, though, the issue will not just go away and he will face yet more questions at the first available opportunity after England arrive at their Krakow base on Wednesday.

On initially selecting the squad, the former Liverpool and West Brom boss dismissed Ferdinand's absence as being for "footballing reasons".

However, many felt there were concerns about Ferdinand's ability to get along with John Terry in light of Terry's impending court case for alleged racist remarks to Ferdinand's brother Anton at Loftus Road in October. Terry denies the charge against him.

On Friday, Hodgson had bemoaned the loss of 143 caps' worth of experience in Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry, who have both been ruled out through injury. Now he finds himself in the uncomfortable position of having to explain how Ferdinand, with such vast experience, is being ignored on football grounds in favour of someone who made just 12 Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season.

Former England boss Steve McClaren has some sympathy for Hodgson, believing that he is in a no-win situation.

McClaren told Sky Sports News: "(He's tried) to avoid the media circus that would go on and on and on. Imagine the media attention surrounding John Terry and Rio Ferdinand every day, at the hotel, stories coming out in training. I think what Roy has had to do is choose between the two of them; he's chosen John Terry.

"I'm sure in an ideal world, without all the controversy around, he would take both. Rio is a fantastic player, he had a great season for Manchester United. John Terry is such a focal point for England as a team, as a squad, as a captain and as a leader.

"He (Hodgson) is in a lose-lose situation. He's made that decision. It's always going to be controversial but he has had to be strong and he has had to make it. The most important thing is when you are together for six weeks in a hotel and you are cocooned within that environment, if you've got anything going on within that squad that hampers the harmony and togetherness that has to be avoided.''
