talking to a few lads that wanted some meat off me today how match fishing has changed, these lads are club anglers yet they are going down to white acres for a weeks festival not sure if its a named one or they have organised it. they were saying that 10 or 15 go down now-er days and they do this 4 times a year in-between these weeks break they hardly go fishing maybe three time between visits
i must admit festivals are nearly every week some where in the country ,but is knocking the numbers down in open matches how many of us now go two days a week or three the numbers are dropping pretty quick with the recession. yet a week away at a festival seams to be ever increasing in popularity i love my week in Holland wishing i could extend it to two weeks that's the sort of pull the festival has all the preparation and planning is all part of it i spent weeks sorting tackle, bait and plans of attack
yet as soon as its over and you start coming home i feel crap .its not the fact you don't want to come home to the family its the knowing its going to be another 12months before it all starts again .i cant say Ive enjoyed any matches I've been on since but that could be the way i'm drawing,it seams its all rush for one days fishing kit and bait ready by Saturday night fish Sunday work Monday then it all starts all over again
quiet a few anglers in Holland hardly go fishing over here now,yet they will be ready for next years festival .
i'm hoping to either get to Ireland later or Stafford moor silver fish festivals i'm wondering if fishing every week is starting to tell on my overall performances is it becoming a choir, am i just turning up
the food trade is becoming more and more intense more of a auction every email every hit on the computer could be the deal of the week you can make £1000 and then loose a £1000 in the next phone call
so for me match fishing is changing at the moment fishing for 4 or 5 days in a festival having the time to get things spot on is more appealing to me then rushing around every week this coming season i've not taken a lot on evesham and the autumn league hopefully the winter league and the canal leagues again
no national for me this year and no organising in the summer
not forgetting the site championship

not forgetting the site championship
But isnt the Site championship just like a one day festival Joff.
I like doing a long weekend like the SMF 2 dayer followed by a Jinx match or the MDs pairs which is preceded by my own match. Both cover 3 days with a match each day but its the camping by the lakeside that makes them so good.
No travelling plenty of booze if you need it. Loads of banter and windups and no early starts. Cant wait.
