looks like lady capels, just up from the famous boom pegs, peg 35 or 36. Think that`s the white bridge in the distance, that was around peg 49/50. Could be wrong as it was the mid 90`s I last fished it. Was a fantastic venue, gudgeon, roach, chub, skimmers, pole, waggler, feeder, great fishing.

the angler who took the picture caught a lot of minnows that day

Lady Capels in the wides, peg numbers were about 72 to 76.

That peg may have just been out of the wides where the river runs in. Chub flier

Chris is right the angler fishing is around peg 72/73/74 on the famous wides section. I was thinking the shot was taken from the boom area looking back towards hunton bridge but its the other way round. Peg 79 was the river mouth just below the lock, chub flier but all those from 70 to 80 were good and won lots of matches.
Why don`t they have any matches there anymore?
Grover don`t think thats Gary Morgan, though it does look a bit like him. Definitely not Blakey, he`s not wearing his tracky bottoms just under his armpits and his backs too straight. Some wag once said that Blakey`s mum used to iron his shirts over the back of a wok!

The photo was taken from the swim where the stream/canal overflow ran in. It was an absolute nightmare - no chub and about a million minnows. With the benefit of hindsight I should probably have tried blasting a gallon of maggots in. Erm, except that a gallon of maggots weren't your usual canal bait call, no matter how good the reputation of the venue...

i can recall drawing a peg between the wides and the bridge just off a bend, when i got there, there were live maggots crawling about and mini boillies on the floor!! i tried all day for a bite, but no-one in my section had anything! with about an hour to go i was the only one left in my section,i started getting the tiniest of dips on the float! all i needed was one fish! i even chopped a few squatts on a 28! got the dips but couldnt connect! needless to say i won my section by default as such cause all the others in my section had gone home!! i much prefered croxley for a match as it was'nt always won on the draw, like capels was..
