Perhaps a tad too difficult - any ideas what match had been won which led to this presentation?

it could be the H.A.S fisheries national championship fished at a lake a wraysbury
this was one of the richest matches going and i'm sure that's why Ivan's suited up.no one got anywhere near ivan that day

I was wondering if it was The People (newspaper) Championship. I think Ivan won that one - a true 'People's Champion'!

Ahrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,,
There was a massive great water called Brogborough, Bedfordshire, he 'opened' up the bream fishing there. Could it have been from a match there?

there is a story about this win TK Ivan won it by his own admission by mistake
he drew opposite a concrete wall where a boat was usually moored he baited up chucked the bomb with his rod up in the air. he never had a bite for the first 30 minutes so for some reason probably a fag he droppered his rod down lower to the water and as the flow was strong when he picked it up he'd got his first bream
the rest is history .that day the bream wanted a moving bait so he just bounced his lead down his peg
1975 i think was the year as lots of his results came between 1972 and 76
the second place angler had around 89lb
great bit of history

Nice 'mistake' to make Joffie
Leicester tackle dealer Ivan marks picked up £5000 in the final of the 1977 Embassy Challenge Tournament. He caught 110lb 7oz of bream in the River Guden, Jutland, to win £3000 first prize and £2000 from bookmakers with a 20-1 bet on himself. His catch was the second highest weight yet recorded in the competition and came on a day when it needed more than 34lb to qualify for the lowest award of £25.
The Embassy Challenge is organised jointly by the national Federation of Anglers and the sponsors W.D and H.O Wills
Ivan’s cheque was presented to him by Peter Brotherton, general marketing manager of W.D & H.O Wills
