Piking through the ice...

Cracking day on Essex lake.....freelined smelt producing a PB of 24lb.....3 other fish to 6lb for me and my brother. Well worth our ice breaking efforts

...first twenty for nearly 30 years so one very happy but cold angler was I!!

The A12 Cuton lakes Dave...fished it four times this year now and never blanked....but nothing over 9lbs before.....was a shock seeing that roll on the surface and certainly answered my brothers question...'Do you want me to net it or are you going to chin it out?'

Dave, I'm deaf as a post lol....what road is that!....to be honest it's quite a nice fishery and as you probably know has the match lake there which looks good with plenty of features and they seem to allow you to park v close to swims etc...I can check out prices etc next time I'm there if you want?...and I'll have my brother check on the road noise!...the match lake is nearer the road than the speciman lake so may be quite noisy...

Forgot about that.

I take it then that you and John Holdsworth wouldnt be bothered if we had a club match there. There are plenty of fish in the match lake but its the road noise that tends to put us off. Its also a pig to get to so Im told.

Ha ha...yeah me and John would be fine!.....its complicated the first time to get to but we actually manage it without the Sat Nav now.......
