I had not got my name down for this match this year because I was not keen on the venue to be honest. In previous years one person would always bag up while the rest struggled and some caught nothing at all. I had a text of Keith74 at work on Monday asking me to fish as one of his team mates had dropped out, after gaining permission from the high commander Gem I returned a text accepting.
Reading the thread on MD's I found out all the bigger carp had been netted and replaced with 5000 stockies, 6-8oz But there was still the odd rouge bigger carp that had avoided the netting. I made a load of rigs for shallow and on the deck with 0.13 powerline, size 1 Tubertini 175's and Jon Walker pencil floats for on the deck and Preston Purple's for shallow. Bait wise I had 5 pints of caster and 5 pints of bronze maggot again I just wanted to catch anything that swims lol
Arriving at the fishery after a nice easy drive down the M6 I saw all the usual suspects. Some old faces and some new ones. My team mates were ready to greet me and give me a strict team talk Keith74 was el capitan with Steve(Pole addict) myself and Tony Ward. Keith drew an envelope of Bucko which contained 4 pegs and then we each picked a card out the envelope. I opened mine up to see peg 24. The last 2 times fishing there I have been on 20, 22 and now 24
I loaded my trolley and set off for the good walk to my peg. When I got there I wasn't disappointed either.

Shallowman on peg 26
So the 3 Tunnel Barn Farm framers were all on a nice line but them pair were not in my section so I didn't have to worry about their supreme bagging skills today
Supreme Baggers (or Buggers, you decide )
Keith (Shallowman) is a tad shy

My bait for today
Fellow Forum moderator and Shrubbery AC internet liaison officer David Wall was also fishing today and came round to inspect my 'Flyer' peg

Thanks for the piccie Dave
The match was due to get underway at 11am fishing till 4pm. With the whistle the match began and it wasn't long before I could hear splashing from my left as both shallowman and Slug were both into fish. It wasn't long before I hooked in to my first fish, a lovely crucian carp. This was pretty much the order for the day watching them pair catching and me catching 1 to their 5 fish
Although they were catching very well they did not threaten me as this was a team match and I was fishing to win my own section and I thought I was doing ok as I could not see much being caught from down the straight to my right. I was catching on my topkit again for 2 hours but I think they got spooked and I had to follow them out to 5 meters where they more comfy feeding. Thinking back I reckon the fish had pushed my keepnet out to where I was fishing. I was catching all kinds of fish but very few silvers. My biggest fish of the day only went 2.5lb. the carp were going 4 to the lb A tad smaller than I'm used too
With the whistle it was all out or was it....... a whistle had blown at 3pm for another match on a different pool and people had stopped fishing on our match But with the real all out on our match I felt I had about 30-40lb roughly.
Walking along with weigh in down my section 26lb was winning it. I put 33lb 8oz on the scales to take my section for the team
Keith74 was in the same section as Slug and Shallowman so was aiming at 3rd but managed to get 4th in section with 18lb 3oz. Tony Ward had also gained 4th in section with 23lb 3oz so there was only Steve (Pole addict) from our team to weigh in and he thought he had done quite well. 28lb was winning his section and he beat that with one of his nets, he put a fine total of 49lb 7oz on the scales
to take the section We had managed a grand total of 10 points. But was it enough ......

After the longest results working out ever it emerged that our team had done it by only 1 point.
A big well done to the rest of the team
Now I have some pictures of the winners of the day and presentation but I will apologise in advance for the poor quality, for some reason the camera did not like the lighting inside the cafe but worked fine outside
Also so not to confuse you like it did everyone else... If you were part of the winning or runner up team you did not win your section money to make the payout more even I think.

Sorry about the picture quality again.
I had a great day in some even better company. Good to see everyone again.
Well done to everyone who took part and especially John (Bucko) and Mrs Bucko for arranging it all.
