carp in canals
i've just read the carp forum and any sympathy i had for them has just completely gone out of the window. very hostile abusive and threatening words being used.
carp in canals
I have read said article in Angling Times and it is a disgrace ...... Steve Ringer needs to explain himself over his comments ! When was the last time HE fished the canal circuit ?
Angling Times what a joke ! Does Murdoch have anything to do with em ?

carp in canals
Fishing the stretch illegally for years, threatening to introduce Zander illegally, threatening to disrupt future matches, threatening to assault the club secretary, and there trying to take the moral high ground on this matter.
I hope i'm fishing when they come to disrupt the matches,i haven't had a good giggle in age's.I can just see 40+ match anglers sitting there pleading with them not to shove there poles up there wobbly cheeks's and not throw bricks in there swims

leave our canals alone thats what i say to AT,Ringer and shimano, canal carp are true nomads travelling from from section to section for spawning, feeding etc some being old big and wise, lets face it we dont catch a four pounder a chuck down the cut when we go do we.they aint just a ton and half of fish per acre swimming round in a gloryfied fish pond.got nowt against commercials god knows a day baggin is great now and again, but dont commercialise the canals

I dont think for a minute that Steve Ringer would say that carp should be stocked into canals.

Good on Carpmagic (SR) to qualify his stance on the subject and refute the statements attributed to him
But some of the aggressive rantings on that carp forum are a disgrace………just verbal diarrhoea from keyboard warriors which do not paint this genre of angler in good light, although it must be recognised they are probably from a minute percentage who hold that aggressive view
For what its worth - perhaps not a lot I admit - from my perspective being a representative of two clubs that lease waters from BWB and control the fishing rights on a couple of canals, although I’m a club match angler/tiddler snatcher and do not target them, I’m really proud of the quality of some carp that reside in the waters.
Whilst I’m uncertain as to their original introduction, whether natural or with intervention from man so where along the line, these fish do not appear to be indicative of those to be found on some heavily stocked waters - for example the 30lber that was caught last year from the Extension was a beautifully marked, lean with powerful ‘shoulders’, a body more akin to a to streamline torpedo rather than with a bloated gut caused by gorging on copious amounts of ‘unnatural’ bait - a fish to be truly admired.
Likewise, because of these ‘natural beasts’ that do reside in our canals, I do sell a number of season tickets to ‘civilised’ carp anglers whom I respect , which not only helps contribute to both meeting rental and insurance costs but also increases a presence on the towpath helping to ‘police the waters’ from unsavoury elements. That’s also not forgetting the same applies to the piking fraternity specialists who are members of our clubs.

carp in canals
I have spoken with AT regarding the headline as it and this thread has only just came to my attention.
The Heading is missing a very important part and this is included in the petition - Sections of canal that have had carp removed for no valid reason should have a re-introduction plan to get back to the same numbers of what have been removed.
The idea is not to turn a canal in to a commercial, far from it (they have their own place), but to keep canals exactly the same as they always have been, this is so that every angler regardless of their disipline whether it be match, pleasure, Carp or Predator can enjoy the sport.
The fact is that Carp are being removed that have been resident for many years and this will anger certain anglers (i am not the only angler that dissaproves of what is happening).
Many new anglers/kids catch their first fish on a canal whether it be Gudgeon, Roach, Bream or Carp. Taking the opportunity away of catching a 15lb carp from a kid is in no way fair.
I have on good authority that a minimum of 82 carp were removed from this 2 or 3 mile stretch so all of the figs that have been made up of 30, 51 etc there was a lot of secrecy on the removal of these fish (buckets covered etc).
Lee Woodhouse - Bragging about removing carp from your stretch of canal on carp forums is only fueling confrontation.
