It is looking very likely that I will be changing the forums soon from YaBB to Vbulletin.
The reason for this is because YaBB uses small text files (flat file) for storing all the information about members, messages and everything else. Which is a pain and lengthy process to backup.
As the forum is growing I need to be able to back it up quickly and easily, Vbulletin uses a database file structure making it far easier and quicker to back up and easier to do other things also.
I have been using YaBB for a while now but the forum upgrades have become very thin on the ground and this is not a decision I have made lightly.
I know, if its not broke dont fix it. But I want to be able to upgrade easily also and backup easily.
I have been in touch with a guy who will do the migration for me but I'm still in talks with him.
Your thoughts and opinions would be greatly received thanks.

The money generously donated from TK's forum match will be used for the upgrade mate.
No need for subscriptions or site support. People have given plenty, time to put that money to good use.
Below is a picture of what it may look like.
But another great feature of the new software is you can change the look in one simple click. Everyone can view the forum in whatever theme they want. Drop down box with all the themes in it. Simples

I know some people hate change but its for the best really.
You will also be able to login using your facebook account (if you have one)
Handy for those that keep forgetting their passwords lol
If anyone has any important Private Messages please make back ups just in case.
Just copy the text and then paste it in a notepad file and save it on your computer.

Simps,
The main thing is what is easiest for you. Anything that free's up time for you to plan your wedding to Gem has to be for the best.

Bill,
It's probably because Gem went off to Portugal and left him all on his own for a week.
He had to much time to think.

Yes I was thinking how to make it better for everyone.
Everyone seems to be using vbulletin, there must be a reason.
Having had a play round on their forum, it does run very nice and seems easy to install add on and templates etc
We will see what price I get quoted for the migration as its a complete bugger to do

Fair play to Raf also, the guy that was doing the migrate. He got all the members across but could not get the posts and topics across :(
