Another old venue and faces
Anyone recognise anyone here or the venue?
It is a print. 'A Pegged Down Fishing Match' and I have ta copy on the cover of a Bernard Venables book, with the original Title of 'Fishing'!. The book is part of a series 'British Sports' and was published in 1952.
However, back to the print, I have seen a full size copy of the original print and looking at the faces it was amazing how you could perhaps put the names of the current members of your club to the faces! It was painted in 1884 by a Walter Dendy Sadler who liked to be called Dendy for some reason!
Anyone else ever the seen the full version?
The one on the dust cover of Venables book is a mirror image of this.

I thought that I could see Joff counting the pools money with the other 3 checking it out!
They are all suffering from poleitis as well.
Hi Murffin, I like the one of the monks pike fishing, that pike they have on would stand more chance of being put back if it had been caught by a Polish Guy!
