Evesham Festival Match Results - 02/08/2010

Abu Garcia Wychavon Championship Qualifier
Evesham Town and Hampton Ferry
Saturday 31st July - 54 fished
Harpin chub winner!

Daiwa Dorking’s Dave Harpin fished the waggler shallow over the far bank lilies and shelf drop-off on pacey Peg 52 to catch nine decent chub and bits for 13lb and first place. Rich ‘Roach’ Reynolds (Quorn) routinely caught 8-8-0 of redfins from Peg 44 on the Whitehouse bend, with hemp and tares the main line of attack at 13 metres. Daiwa Gordon’s League’s John Curtis caught two eels and 20 hemp roach for 6-15-0 for third place on shallow Peg 24 upstream of the big willow. In fourth place, Steve Townsend (Drennan Oxford) worked hard for 4-15-0 on Peg 2 using long pole and pinkie to take a decent bag of small dace, gudgeon, bleak and roach.

Qualifiers: John Curtis, Dave Harpin, Ed Warren

Shakespeare Championship Qualifier
Evesham Town and Hampton Ferry
Sunday 1st August - 64 fished
Bench bags barbel brace!

Shakespeare’s Tony Bench set his stall out for barbel on unfancied Peg 15 bait-droppering in over two pints of maggots and 1.5 pints of caster at 13 metres under a 4g rig and used lobworm on a size 12 hook. The first bite after three hours resulted in a 10lb barbel, soon followed by a smaller 6lb specimen and two decent eels for 18-3-0 and a clear victory.

Talk of the match though was Steve Toone’s (Mill Tackle) 9lb plus barbel from his 14 foot deep swim on Peg 72. Eels and perch completed an 11-10-0 haul that just goes to show to expect the unexpected on this diverse river stretch.

Continuing his remarkable run, Quorn’s Rich Reynolds took 8-2-0 of hemp and tare caught roach at Peg 50. Another in form angler, Tony Marshall (Quorn) took fourth spot with 7-0-0 of hemp roach at Peg 24.

Qualifiers: Tony Bench, John Curtis, Steve Toone
Next matches - August 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th - contact Diana Raphael on 01386 442458 for tickets.

Is it still 20 points to get into the final - or do you need more these days Image

If so presume you've got enough in the 'locker' now for that too CWH Image

You don't need 20 points nowadays. It is the top fifty points scorers. If there is atie for 50th place they all go through.
I would suggest around 15 to be the target, maybe one less.
If you finish in the top ten points scorers there is a mega payout too. Image Image Image Image Image

Well done again Saturday CWH.
Ffs keep on the rivers all winter and don't come on our beloved cuts in search of 50 peggers. Give some of us mere mortal cut buffs a crappity smack chance. Image Image Image

Thanks again !!
I drew well again, wanted 49 got 50 and to be fair would have been happy with any peg approx 5 foot deep with pace.
The beauty of these pegs is the bankside tree's which on a clear river gives excellent cover which is a massive bonus.
My last match had been on the same peg !!!
I had caught roach on hemp and tares that day, but with this being a bloodworm match, bloodworm it was. Balled it in with 10 big ones and topped up regular.
Caught on and off for the match with the last hour being the poorest.
12lb 4oz of Big roach, Happy Days !!!!!!!
