Curse Match 7 2010 - jubilant at Jubilee Fishery?
Curse Match 7 2010 - jubilant at Jubilee Fishery?
At the end of most seasons I look back and ponder how the ‘pre season’ expectations have failed to materialize and how the season generally has been an anti climax.
Well to be honest, we aint quite half way through this season and that cloud of doom and despondency is already consuming me………….particularly after the latest match
In fact on Sat I was scratching my head as to a title for this topic and what the hell I was going to pen……….. but here goes………..
The venue was the Evesham Jubilee AC fishery - a venue I hadn’t seen before, although I’d booked a match at the fishery last year and had received a number of positive comments, hence the revisit.
However this time we were on a different pool…………..the Withies Pool - with 25 pegs booked and paid for on this snake like venue with us allocated pegs 1 - 30.
There was another reasonable Cashmores turnout for this one……..21 members and 3 guests - who were incidentally all on the membership ‘waiting list’ - but may have changed their minds after this match
On arrival after a 40 odd mile trip, first things first…………,I had to pay out Hotlips his golden peg monies after his convincing win on the cut last match.
The draw made, Although we had ‘reversed pegged’ the pool, with our peg 1 on peg 30 etc I soon realised that my peg for the day - peg 11, perm 20, wasn’t amongst the ‘noted’ areas that the secretary had advised me of a few days earlier………..par for the course I spose - particularly as there were only 3 pegs in the bag when I drew, 2 of the 3 being supposedly in an decent area.. :(
Sprucey Ducey was a happy bunny……………he’d avoided the scales for a change ……….so I was expecting some brilliant photography work from him today. My camera could stop in the box………he’d capture all of the mood and flavour of the day for posterity I was sure…………….. ::)
Strange that…………I never saw him again for the duration of the match……………wonder why
I traipsed up to my peg for the day……………and must admit, it looked a beaut. Well to be honest they all did by me. Overhanging trees with features with a bush to both left and right on my inside.
To my left I had HAHA for company and Mr Vig to my right.
Soon plumbed up and set up with a conscious plan of what how I was going to approach the match………only one thing struck me - very little evidence of fish activity in the vicinity, despite it being quite a warm morning Not a bit topping
However a little trot round ‘the corner’ revealed…………..
Back to the box and the off.
Lines fed and Ha Ha to my left soon hooks and looses two, then follows that up with first a carp, and then a ‘chub’, whilst I’m biteless……………..and so is Mr Vig
An hour into the match and I’m ‘under pressure’………..HaHa hasn’t added anymore, but Mr Vig has avoided the dreaded dry net with an ide and a couple of caster roach.
In fact it was almost two hours into the match when I managed to avoid blanking with a small ide.
This was followed by a stripey and at lengthy intervals by some of the smallest ide I’d ever seen.
Bites were at a premium amongst us on 8 to 15…………..
What did I do wrong
What did I do right
Did I do anything right
What should I have done differently
Well I spose looking at the tale of the scales I should have scratted out a few more ounces for what would have turned out to be a few extra points…………I didn’t realize it was that ‘tight’ amongst us strugglers
Sorry Joffie no pictures from me…………the camera stopped in the box as I struggled to come to terms with the venue in the quest for a few bites.
Hopefully Sprucey Ducey will stick one or two up, although as I said earlier he didnt pop round and take any ‘action’ shots from by us…………..well that would have been difficult for him anyway, cuss there wasn’t any action
Enough of my waffle, here’s the tale of the scales with who did what and from where…………..

Curse Match 7 2010 - jubilant at Jubilee Fishery?
:-/everybody has that sort of a day TK ;)just put it to the back of your mind and get on with thinking about next week
i was at a wedding on saturday along with a lot of good anglers a lot better than me and to hear there thoughts on match fishing on the whole was quite worrying
young lads that have come into the sport recently only know commercials and stick to one or two venue theses lads have leart loads very quickly and make it very hard to beat them at there own game
so TK take fishing for what it is, a nice day out with your mates some you win and some you loose
i've enjoyed my carp fishing but i can't wait for the canals and rivers to start

Geoff and Joffie - you'll be happy to hear that MrVig has just been moved off suicide watch after Saturdays match - apparently he's responded well to the tablets
Curse Match 7 2010 - jubilant at Jubilee Fishery?
We will have to have a Curse vs Jinx match TK as we both suffer the same lol
Could end up fishing in pools of Blood from all the suicides LOL

Geoff and Joffie - you'll be happy to hear that MrVig has just been moved off suicide watch after Saturdays match - apparently he's responded well to the tablets
Suicide watch!! I am just grateful I had a barbq to go to after the match....its amazing how double figures of bottles of Bud make me forget things
As I said to you on the phone earlier TK, my "anti commercial moods" never last long, and are soon put out of mind waiting for the next club contest. However, if we could only ever fish commercials, the golf clubs would get cleaned up
The pegs and venue looked absolutely brilliant, more snags than a woolly jumper in a bramble bush and a decent colour. I was of the same mind as you though before kick off "why is nothing showing??" And, as you said after the match, I am never going anywhere without squatt and pinkie again, just in case it turns into a Cashmores Summer grueller
I have a cunning plan for the next match though....get someone else to draw my peg, cos at the minute, I couldnt draw a straight line (probably the Bud)
Well done Sprucey, bout time you put some effort into the team points

Curse Match 7 2010 - jubilant at Jubilee Fishery?
with missing last years match on jubilee pools,i would need to follow someone to the venue
so a quick call to t.k. and arrangements were made to follow heinzer and t.k.
saturday arrives so it's an earlier than normal, with myself arriving at t.k's for 7-30
heinzer duly arrives and we are off for the 45 minute drive to evesham.
on the way down geoff and richard cashmore pass us on the motorway and still manage to arrive 15 mins after us ???
with people arriving in drips and drabs,we spy kod who with cotti have pegged out.
upon telling t.k. that pegs 30--40 look brilliant and they have pegged them,t.k. and kod go back to repeg because
we have only got from pegs 1--30 .oh dear
this is the annoying bit with owners of waters knowing we book 25 pegs and then being told we will have to leave
pegs out because there unfishable,so why don't they let you have the whole pool for 5hrs .
especially when nobody's comes to fish the pegs you have had to leave out ????????????
sorry had a basil fawlty moment there
back to the draw the air is thick ( nobody said it was mensa ) i think it's due to f kendal backfiring, ignoring this,
i hold back and wait till the scrum's over.
heinzer then announces that 23,24and 25 are on the scales.
kod and t.k. tell me there's only 3 disc's in the bag and two are going to be on the scales oh sh*t not again ???????
no scales no scales no scales
the delight on kod's face
the delight on mine
those pair will never go to heaven (telling porkies is a no no,it will come back you pair mark my words )
learning this yammo uses my camera to take picciesof myself drawing (thanks paul )
peg 1 sticks to my hand which is peg 30 on the pool, that will do nicely.
i apologise now because i forgot to take piccies of my peg,so a discription will have to do.
the peg is on a corner with loads of feature's to fish to ,straight out in front of me is a clump of lillies at 14mtrs
and to my left on the far side(16mtrs)there is a gap, about the size of a dustbin to get to the bare bank behind
overhanging tree's,these will be 2 swim's across.
with a small bush to my right at 3mtrs and a swim to my left at 7 mtrs this will cover my day.
now during the match, besides all the other banter there's a request of f kendal to bring my camera and witness
a momentous event,so armed with camera i have taken piccies which will appear later!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my match went ok ,after this with fish mainly coming from the 16mtr line, the fish just didn't want to come any closer.
tk should have put the result's up by now, so it's on to the piccies ok joff.
al right when nobody's looking we can hold hands
cotti and phil god know's what there discussing but harry's had enough
put it back rich he's pointing that bl**dy camera at us
mgb and abuman look dejected and they haven't drew yet
why's abuman alway's got his back to ne
at least hotlips is pleased to see me
hotlips and f kendal who know's what goes on in that car
tk looking all hot and bothered what have you pair been up to
i told hotlips i wouldn't post this pic so if he ask's i haven't ok
tell him it was this one
a sight to gladden the heart
rich and yammo looking very suspicous
money,money ,money
chris it rolled out of me hear can you see it
come on who's turn is it to start the line dancing then
our team's saviour yet again mr t cooper
rich not looking again
phil's nice stripey , you can tell everybody struggled there all trying to get in the frame
britain's red hot tip for the 2012 belly flop olympic's
at leats the sun hasn't got to mgb then
yammo's catch at least somebody had something to show
hotlips and his snake
jonah's catch
now as promised piccies of a momumental event, although i wasn't at the conception i was there at the delivery!!!!

Time for an update on the 'league table'
I aint posted this before because after match 1 where half the field (or more) blanked it was a bit 'meaningless' as there was a small 'break away' group........
However Cotti - one of the blankers on match - has put a bit of a 'run' together and is starting to real everyone in
After match 7 the league looks like this.......
ANGLER TEAM POINTS POS
YAMO A 170 1
COTTI C 161 2
JUAN CHUB B 160 3
KOD E 148 4
TK E 145 5
ZORRO B 140 6
SPRUCEY E 140 6
BIG BAZ B 135 8
MR V E 132 9

FK C 113 11

MGB D 53 22
MILLIE B 48 23
ROBERTO D 39 24
MICK K B 23 25
LASHER A 14 26

On the team front, can anyone stop an Tommy Cooper inspired team E from snatching the title
Team points as follows.......
TEAM A B C D E
TOTAL 410 580 475 404 612
Position 4 2 3 5 1
At the moment it looks like theres only team B with any chance of a comeback
